Pep Guardiola Loses Out On Man City Keeper Stefan Ortega

Having endured a dismal period, Pep Guardiola's City has showcased signs of recovery in recent weeks, but the team is not yet back to its best. Tuesday's outcome is a testament to it where the defending Premier League champions allowed their opponent to stage a comeback even after taking a hefty lead.

Facing off against the Bees at their own backyard, Phil Foden stepped up in the second half to score two goals within twelve minutes. However, City's joy was short-lived as Yoane Wissa reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute, setting the stage for a late drama where the hosts equalised courtesy of Christian Norgaard's strike.

Visibly livid Pep could not hide his anger following the end of the match and showcased his vexation to the keeper Stefan Ortega, who did well to get one hand on Norgaard's header but failed to prevent the ball from entering the net.

Guardiola showcased his animated side as he was seen passionately yelling at his keeper following the final whistle.

After the game, Guardiola explained his frustrations with the result.

“We're a bit disappointed but at 2-0 up we didn't manage to hold on to the lead and unfortunately we couldn't close the game,” he told TNT Sports. “Today we didn't take the right decisions in the final third. I had the feeling that we didn't take the right decisions in the final third to close the game.”

Opportunity missed

It was an opportunity to close out the gap at the top but City faltered in their attempt, which did not change things one bit. However, Liverpool also missed their mark later in the day as they also ended up with a 1-1 draw against Nottingham.
