Real Madrid won 2-1 despite being down to 10-men

Real Madrid were reduced to 10 men in the first half of their La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad when Dean Huijsen was handed a red card for a foul on Mikel Oyarzabal. The decision by the referee seemingly did not go right with the Los Blancos manager as he reacted in anger. Additionally, his protest earned him his first yellow card as a Real Madrid manager.

At just the 32nd minute of the La Liga match, the Whites were down to 10 men when referee Jesus Gil Manzano showed a red card to Huijsen, which provoked a natural reaction from coach Alonso. As a result, the 20-year-old centre-back was sent off.

Earlier, Real Madrid lost centre back Antonio Rudiger following a muscle injury in his left leg. The German professional could be sidelined for over three months as per the reports. The experienced player sustained the injury on Friday in training and has been plagued by several fitness issues.

This has left Alonso with a few options at the back, which will force the former Bayer Leverkusen coach to rotate heavily. However, this will give a huge opportunity to the other members of the club. With Huijden and Eder Militao in option, the manager is sweating on defensive options like Raul Asencio and David Alaba.

Meanwhile, despite being down to 10 men, the 15-time UCL Champions won the match with a score of 2-1, all thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s strike and youngster Arda Guler’s close-range finish. It has been a perfect start in the league for the Spanish giants with four victories in four games. The team will be playing Marseille next in the league, with the Madrid Derby scheduled at the end of this month.
