Story Highlights:

Real Madrid defeated Leganes in the Copa Del Rey Quarterfinal.

Madrid won the match with the score line of 3-2.

Luka Modric, Endrick, and Gonzalo Garcie were on the scoresheet for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid took on Leganes in the quarterfinal of the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. Having taken a 2-0 lead in the first half, Madrid allowed Leganes to script a comeback in the match. Nevertheless, newcomer Gonzalo Garcia saved the day for the Whites by scoring a winner in the added time.

The frailties in defense were visible yet again and Leganes made the most of the weakness at the back by netting two goals on the night. Following the culmination of the game, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the absence of Antonio Rudiger and Davis Alaba in the squad is weakening the defense of the 15-time UCL winners, as there is only Aurelien Tchouameni and academy players in the form of Jacobo Ramon, Raul Asencio to replace them.

"We are in an emergency, as both (Antonio) Rudiger and (David)  Alaba will be out for 20 days. The only options at centre back are Jacobo Ramon, Raul Asencio and Tchouameni."

Madrid have been battling injuries all season, with Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal suffering long-term issues in October and November respectively.

Madrid have been leaking goals this season and the absence of experienced defenders could cost the Royal Whites dearly, when they will come face to face against Manchester City next week in the playoff round of the Champions League.
