VALORANT has rolled out its first patch of 2025, introducing several key updates aimed at enhancing the competitive gameplay experience. The newly added Rank Shields offer players in Tier 1 additional protection, while various bug fixes, particularly for the new agent Tejo, promise a smoother and more balanced gaming environment.

Introducing Rank Shields in Competitive Mode

In a significant update to the Competitive Mode, the new Rank Shield system allows players in Tier 1 (such as Silver 1, Gold 1, Platinum 1) to receive two Rank Shields when they drop to 0 RR. This addition grants them three chances to win a game before facing demotion. Each loss at 0 RR will consume one shield, with demotion occurring after the third consecutive loss. Rank Shields are replenished only when players advance to or demote into Tier 1, ensuring a balanced yet competitive progression.

Tejo and Map Improvements

The latest agent, Tejo, sees multiple bug fixes aimed at refining his abilities. The updates address issues with his Armageddon blast zone and Guided Salvo projectile, promising a more stable gameplay experience. Additionally, enhancements have been made to Tejo's Stealth Drone interactions with Nearsight and Sage's abilities. The map Bind also benefits from fixes to invisible collisions within teleporter rooms, promoting smoother gameplay flow.

Overall, Patch 10.01 sets a solid foundation for competitive play in 2025, offering players enhanced protection with Rank Shields, alongside a range of fixes that ensure a more refined and balanced gameplay experience.
