From captaining the Indian women's hockey team to a historic finish at the Tokyo Games in 2021 to embracing her new role as the coach of India's U-17 girls' team, Rani Rampal's journey in the world of sports is a testament to perseverance, resilience, and passion. Reflecting on her illustrious career, Rani remains resolute, viewing each phase of her life as an opportunity to give back to the game that has been the essence of her existence.

Throughout her career, Rani overcame societal barriers, especially the deep-rooted gender biases in her native Haryana. Yet, she rose, challenging conventions and setting new paradigms. Speaking to PTI, Rani remarked, "I don't have any regrets now, I know I did my work and still I am doing. If one door closes in life, God opens up another one. I've learned that while many may try to pull you down, it's essential to uplift oneself."

The backbone of her determination and success in hockey can be attributed to her father and coach, Baldev Singh. Their support countered familial objections and societal norms. She recalls, "Hockey gave me an identity. I'm acknowledged and approached due to hockey. My commitment is to serve the sport in any capacity - be it as a player, mentor, or coach. My zeal for hockey remains untouched."

Rani's 22-year-long journey in hockey saw her evolve from a young girl challenging societal norms to becoming a sports icon. This transformation was rewarded with several honours, such as the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and the esteemed Padma Shri.

The sport gave her more than just accolades; it granted her a sense of identity and purpose. Rani's unwavering passion is evident in her continued commitment to hockey, regardless of her role.

Haryana, once a state that often deterred girls like Rani from pursuing sports, has now evolved, encouraging female participation in sports. This change in mindset signifies the gradual, yet impactful, societal transformation.

Rani Rampal's journey, filled with ups and downs, stands as a beacon of inspiration for numerous budding athletes. As she steps into her new coaching role, she remains a symbol of hope and evolution, kindling a fervor for hockey and shaping the future of budding female athletes.
