Story Highlights:

Edmonton Oilers former head coach Craig MacTavish spoke highly of Connor McDavid during a recent appearance at Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer.

During the 14 games in the postseason, Connor McDavid has notched up 22 points (five goals and 17 assists).

The Game 5 will be played at the American Airlines Center on Thursday, May 29.

If Connor McDavid's Oilers continue their impressive form, they will be favorites to bring the Stanley Cup back to Edmonton for the first time since 1990. The Edmonton Oilers superstar skipper will be looking to take a revenge for last year's heartbreaking loss in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final against the Florida Panthers.

What did Craig MacTavish say about Connor McDavid and Mark Messier?

The 28-year-old center led the charge for the Edmonton Oilers in their 6-1 win over the Dallas Stars as he registered two goals. Interestingly, one of the goals that he scored turned out to be the match winner. His play and the look in his eyes is of a player who is set out on a mission and will not surrender until he reaches his goal.

The former Edmonton Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish was recently present at the Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer on Monday night. During his appearance on the show, he compared Connor McDavid's drive to the legendary Mark Messier. After the show, Oilers Now shared the clip on their X account (formerly known as Twitter).

Let's be honest, our best beats their best. We're the better team in the series in a lot of people's opinion. And you know, like we're just, McDavid is completely driven to a level that I haven't seen since Messier in 1994. I mean, Draisaitl the same way, Bouchard, these guys, they're winners, and it's time that we give them credit for that, MacTavish said.

And they've controlled the big games, the big minutes in game. And that's a sign of the best team, and we played great. This is a good team; we should be proud of them, and I have no doubt they'll finish it off at some point, MacTavish added.

Connor McDavid wants to win in Edmonton

After winning Game 3 in front of their home crowd on Sunday, Connor McDavid took out time to praise the fan base. Sportsnet shared the clip with his comments on their X account.

There's not a better rink in the NHL. It's so special to play here, McDavid said.

The Oilers could be witness to a special rematch with Florida Panthers in the 2025 Stanley Cup finals as something special is brewing in Edmonton this spring.

McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers have a commanding 3-1 lead over Dallas Stars in the seven game series after winning Game 4 on Tuesday night. The Game 5 will be played at the American Airlines Center on Thursday, May 29.
