PKL 8: Bengal Warriors damage Puneri Paltan's play-off chances after securing a seven-point win

Three matches on February 17 (Friday), in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) turned out to be absolutely exciting as Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi and Gujarat Titans scripted crucial victories to improve their position in the Pro Kabaddi League.

 

In the first match of the night, Bengal Warriors defeated Puneri Paltan 43-36 to secure a thrilling victory.

 

Maninder Singh, Sukesh and substitute Rohit emerged as the match-winning figures for the Bengal Warriors side in the game. 

 

Pune's confident start

The match although, started in favour of the Puneri Paltan side as they secured an early lead of 4-1.

 

Three tackle points and a touch point helped the Paltan to start the game on a positive note. 

 

Minutes later, a five-point super raid helped the Paltan side in bagging a convincing lead of eight points. For Puneri Paltan, their players Inamdar and Goyat carried on their prolific defensive prowess to help their side in earning a healthy lead of 10 points. Bengal Warriors side made an attempt to make a prompt comeback in the match as they managed to reduce the deficit down to seven points but Puneri Paltan exhibited an emphatic performance to reclaim their solid lead of 10 points just before the half time. 

 

Second half show

In the second half, Bengal Warriors scripted a major comeback as two super tackles saw the Warriors reduce their deficit to a single point. The match went on to be a thrilling affair as Puneri Paltan registered two quick super tackles to gather a four-point lead. But in a dramatic comeback, the Bengal Warriors team scored a touch point and an all out to secure an important lead in the game. 

 

Paltan did make an attempt to come back in the contest but super raids from Rohit and Sukesh Hegde extended the Warriors’ lead to six points and left Pune with only a man on the mat.

 

Another all-out saw the Warriors side register an eight-point lead in the game. In the final minute of the game, Paltan did earn a 2-1 run but that was not enough for them to secure victory.

 

On the other hand, in the second match of the night, Dabang Delhi registered a 40-32 victory against Telugu Titans.

 

In the final match of the day, Gujarat Titans emerged as victorious against Tamil Thalaivas after eanring a 43-33 victory.
