Three matches on February 17 (Friday), in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) turned out to be absolutely exciting as Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi and Gujarat Titans scripted crucial victories to improve their position in the Pro Kabaddi League.&nbsp;In the first match of the night, Bengal Warriors defeated Puneri Paltan 43-36 to secure a thrilling victory.&nbsp;Maninder Singh, Sukesh and substitute Rohit emerged as the match-winning figures for the Bengal Warriors side in the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pune's confident startThe match although, started in favour of the Puneri Paltan side as they secured an early lead of 4-1.&nbsp;Three tackle points and a touch point helped the Paltan to start the game on a positive note.&nbsp;&nbsp;Minutes later, a five-point super raid helped the Paltan side in bagging a convincing lead of eight points. For Puneri Paltan, their players Inamdar and Goyat carried on their prolific defensive prowess to help their side in earning a healthy lead of 10 points. Bengal Warriors side made an attempt to make a prompt comeback in the match as they managed to reduce the deficit down to seven points but Puneri Paltan exhibited an emphatic performance to reclaim their solid lead of 10 points just before the half time.&nbsp;&nbsp;Second half showIn the second half, Bengal Warriors scripted a major comeback as two super tackles saw the Warriors reduce their deficit to a single point. The match went on to be a thrilling affair as Puneri Paltan registered two quick super tackles to gather a four-point lead. But in a dramatic comeback, the Bengal Warriors team scored a touch point and an all out to secure an important lead in the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;Paltan did make an attempt to come back in the contest but super raids from Rohit and Sukesh Hegde extended the Warriors’ lead to six points and left Pune with only a man on the mat.&nbsp;Another all-out saw the Warriors side register an eight-point lead in the game. In the final minute of the game, Paltan did earn a 2-1 run but that was not enough for them to secure victory.&nbsp;On the other hand, in the second match of the night, Dabang Delhi registered a 40-32 victory against Telugu Titans.&nbsp;In the final match of the day, Gujarat Titans emerged as victorious against Tamil Thalaivas after eanring a 43-33 victory.&nbsp;

PKL 8: Bengal Warriors damage Puneri Paltan's play-off chances after securing a seven-point win

The first match of February 8 (Tuesday) between Haryana Steelers and Tamil Thalaivas saw an exciting encounter as Steelers bagged a 37-29 victory in the first match of the night, in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2022. In the second match between Patna Pirates and U Mumba, the Patna-side dominated the game to secure a 47-36 victory.&nbsp;&nbsp;Haryana's victoryFor Haryana, Ashish performed amazingly and led his team to victory. Ashish got full support of Captain Vikas, in the game. At the same time, Patna did not give U Mumba any chance to earn many points and completely dominated the match.&nbsp;&nbsp;Three-time champions Patna Pirates consolidated themselves at the top of the points table by defeating U Mumba in the 103rd match of the eighth season of the PKL. Patna got their 12th win in 17 matches while Mumba faced their sixth defeat. Apart from Sachin Tanwar (16 points), in Patna's victory, Guman Singh (11 points) contributed significantly as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;Abhishek Singh bagged 13 points for U Mumba while V Ajit Kumar also completed his super ten in the last moments but his efforts proved insufficient for the team.&nbsp;Early leadPatna took a 5-1 lead within four minutes of play. Then Guman increased the lead to 8-1 with a multi point raid. U Mumba were close to all out but Abhishek Singh not only opened his account with a super raid but also made the score 4-8. However, after this, Patna took a lead of 13-4 by landing an all-out on U Mumba. After this, U Mumba did make a comeback and made the score 10-14. Then Abhishek pushed Patna to the brink of all-out with the third consecutive raid point and made the score 14-16.&nbsp;After this, Patna got five points due to Sachin's raid. The umpires gave four points on this raid but Fazal Atrachali reviewed and but it was eventually rejected. Now Patna got the lead of 21-14. Then Sachin completed a super ten on the very next raid. Abhishek could not avoid the all-out this time. Patna eventually had taken the lead by dismissing U Mumba for the second time.&nbsp;Patna's leadBy the end of the first half the score was 26-18 in favour of Patna. After the break, Patna took four points while U Mumba could only register two more points. Sachin went on for a do or die raid but he got a super tackle. Then Shivam took out Guman and revived Abhishek.&nbsp;However, Monu increased the lead to 10 with a do or die Raid by giving Patna three points. U Mumba was on the verge of all-out for the third time in the game. Shivam earned two points by dashing Sachin who came after revival. This time U Mumba could not save the all-out and now Patna had got a lead of 38-27.&nbsp;Two and a half minutes were left in the game and the score was 43-31 in favour of Patna. Then Rinku caught Guman and later Ajit scored multiple points after this but Sachin cancelled out all his efforts by registering a super raid.

Ashish's miracle helps Haryana to secure victory as U Mumba suffer defeat against Patna Pirates

Sachin was all guns blazing as Patna Pirates put the defending champions Bengal Warriors through the wringer with a scoreline of 38-29 on the final day in vivo Pro Kabaddi League Season 8’s Rivalry Week.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sachin scored a sensational Super 10 (11 points) and was well complemented by Guman Singh (7 points) in the raiding unit. The Pirates’ defence was in top form too with Mohammadreza Shadloui picking up a High 5. The victory propelled Patna Pirates to spur to top of the points table. The three-time champions are now favourites to clinch a top-2 finish which will give them a direct entry into the Season 8 semi-finals.&nbsp;Bengal Warriors had looked clueless and had yet another poor day on the mat with both their defence and attack struggling. They will now need to ensure they win all the remaining matches of the season to stand a chance of making it to the eliminators.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pirates controlled the first half with a collective performance. Their raiders Sachin and Guman Singh found easy mistakes from the Bengal defenders to give an early lead. Bengal’s raiders including Maninder Singh had no similar luck at the other end with Mohammadreza Shadloui manning the left corner. Bengal staged a small comeback when Abozar Mighani and Manoj Gowda pulled off two tackles. But Patna were relentless in their pursuit for that ALL OUT and got it with 2 minutes remaining for halftime. The scores were 21-10 at the interval with Bengal in desperate need of inspiration.&nbsp;Pirates carried their dominance after the break. Their raiders slowed down the pace of the match while defenders ensured there were no slip-ups. Bengal’s Maninder Singh struggled to make an impact as Patna left corner Mohammadreza Shadloui picked his High 5 (6th of the season) in the 8th minute. Even the usually reliable Ran Singh in Bengal’s left corner was having an error-prone night. But despite the dominance, the Pirates failed to inflict another ALL OUT.&nbsp;&nbsp;The winners had an 8-point lead with 5 minutes remaining in the match. Sachin clinched his Super 10 as the Pirates finally secured their second ALL OUT. That opened the lead to 11 points. The Patna team kept calm in the dying minutes to ensure they won the match.

Sachin scores Super 10 as Patna Pirates sink Bengal Warriors

Gujarat Giants beat defending champions Bengal Warriors 34-25 in match 87 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 8. In the second match of the evening, Bengaluru Bulls defeated UP Yoddha 31-26 and reduced the deficit of points they need to dethrone Dabang Delhi from the top.&nbsp;&nbsp;Giants took an early lead in the match but the lead kept changing hands in the first half. Giants got a three-point super raid by Pardeep Kumar in the ninth minute. Warriors immediately clawed their way back with a two-point raid by Maninder Singh. Both defenses opted for a high line which meant there were no bonus points on offer. Giants' Ajay Kumar also chipped in with crucial raid points in the low-scoring first half as it ended with scores 13-12 in his team's favour.&nbsp;Giants substituted Rakesh Narwal for Rakesh S in the second half and the move proved to be a fruitful one. The young raider fetched a three-point super raid in the early minutes which gave the Giants enough momentum to secure an all out in the seventh minute after the restart. Gujarat had a nine-point lead going into final five minutes and they extended it with Pardeep Kumar's excellent raids. Giants put on a collective effort to ensure Bengal Warriors lost the game by a nine-point margin.&nbsp;For Gujarat, Ajay Kumar picked nine points and was supported by Pardeep Kumar with seven points. Hodi Oshtorak and Rakesh Sungroya both chipped in four points each. For Bengal, captain Maninder Singh bagged nine points, Ran Singh picked six points and Ismaeil Nabibakhsh picked five points.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bengaluru Bulls defeat UP Yoddha to retain second placeIn the second match of the Bengaluru Bulls defeated UP Yoddha 31-26. This is UP Yoddha's third consecutive defeat as they sit sixth on the table with five wins from 15 games.&nbsp;The first half was completely dominated by the defenders. For Bulls, Pawan Sehrawat and Bharat took charge of the team in raiding, while Aman took three points in defense and got good support from other defenders as well. For this reason, Bengaluru Bulls inflicted an all out on UP Yoddha in the 15th minute of the match. For UP Yoddha, captain Nitesh Kumar scored four points whereas Ashu Singh and Shrikant Jadhav scored three points each. However, Pardeep Narwal was a complete flop with only get two points to his name and getting out thrice. After the first half, Bulls took a 18-13 lead.&nbsp;Jadhav got the UP Yoddha off to a good start in the second half as he got two touch points. Sehrawat also scored consecutive points in raiding. A 40-36 win for the Yoddha has seen them leapfrog Bengal Warriors and reach fourth in the standings. In the day's earlier encounter saw league leaders Dabang Delhi brought to their knees by Haryana Steelers in another close stalemate as they ran out winners by 36-33.&nbsp;Centurion Vikash does it for the SteelersThe Haryana Steelers had to work hard to earn the vital five points against Dabang Delhi as Viskash Kandola proved to be the difference-maker. The Steelers captain raided 13 points on the night and in doing so also completed his century of raid points in the PKL season 8. It was his inspirational performance that saw Haryana take a decisive first half lead of eight points as they went into the break leading 19-11, securing one all-out.&nbsp;The half-time lead was consolidated by the Steelers as Vinay (7) and Ashish (4) got into the act with a few superb running hand touches. Defender Surender Nada (3) also played his part to help out the defense. Despite Sandeep Narwal (9) and substitute Neeraj Narwal (6) producing some vital efforts, it was the team from Haryana that earned the points to down Delhi.&nbsp;Red Hot UP Yoddha's pick momentum with win&nbsp;The UP Yoddha are unbeaten in their last five matches of the PKL season 8 and have momentum on their side, as they sit just five points adrift of league leaders Dabang Delhi. Defender Nitish Kumar added a feather to the cap in the form of his 250th tackle point. The skipper picked three tackle points while he was supported by Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill with their raiding tactics. But despite this, it was the defending champions' Maninder Singh, with 19 points, which kept his team in the contest until the very last moment. Only one point separated the teams at the break as UP Yoddha led by 19-18.&nbsp;Narwal and Gill both picked up nine points each, missing out on a 'Super 10', but made sure their team gets over the line. Sukesh Hegde (6) and Ravindra Kumavat (4) did contribute to the Warriors' tally, but a lead in the dying moments of the second half made sure UP Yoddha walked away with points.&nbsp;Despite, three losses in the last five matches Dabang Delhi still sit at the summit of the table with 43 points, three points ahead of Bengaluru Bulls. The win sees Haryana Steelers keep their playoff hopes alive as they climb to fifth with back-to-back wins and reach 34 points. Defending champions Bengal Warriors suffered their first defeat in five; they now sit on 35 points in the fifth place while opponents UP Yoddha occupy the fourth spot with their vital win. They have 38 points from 12 matches of the PKL season 8.&nbsp;It will be a tripleheader on Saturday (January 22) as former champions Bengaluru Bulls take on Puneri Paltan, followed by U Mumba and Telugu Titans battle. A solid performance by former champions Bengaluru Bulls saw them crush Gujarat Giants by 46-37 in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 8. An inspired performance by Pawan Sehrawat meant that the Bulls now go top of the table having played one match more than Patna Pirates and Dabang Delhi. The earlier encounter saw former champions Jaipur Pink Panthers dominate another former champion Patna Pirates by 38-28 to record their fifth win of the campaign.&nbsp;Hooda, Deshwal too hot to handle for PiratesA 'Super 10' by Deepak Hooda and Arjun Deshwal's nine points proved to be the ultimate difference-maker in match 53 of the PKL as they steered the Panthers to a much-needed win. An all-out along with 11 raid points was the feature story for the Panthers as they led 18-12 at halftime. Monu Goyat (7) and captain Prashant Kumar (6) tried to pull their best to keep their team in the contest but were no match to the Panthers' defense and attack.&nbsp;The second half was no different as Sahul Kumar with four successful tackles was making it look easier for the team from the pink city. Despite Sachin's heroics for Pirates, it was the Panthers' conversion rate of 17 successful raids that proved to be decisive. The 38-28 win saw Panthers go fourth in the table while three-time champions Patna Pirates lost ground, as they sit second in the table.&nbsp;'Super Pawan' does it again for Bengaluru BullsBengaluru Bulls had to go through a tough routine to outclass Gujarat Giants in the second match. However, there was no price for guessing who was the standout performer of the match was, as Sehrawat was raiding point after point, to lead his team to the summit of the PKL table. A 38th career 'Super 10' with 19 points has cemented his place as one of the best performers in the history of PKL. He put a price on his raids by notching points on every other raid. Despite an all-out, the Giants were still able to hang in as they trailed the Bulls at halftime by 17-22.&nbsp;Giants' star raider Rakesh did try to reduce the deficit with his eye-catching 14 raid points, but it was not enough for his side to salvage anything from the contest. Sunil Kumar (4) and Parvesh Bhainswal (4) did help their cause but another all-out followed to end their hopes of getting anything from the contest. For Bulls, Bharat almost clinched a 'Super 10' but ended with nine points. The win sees the Bulls go to the top while Gujarat remain 11th on the table with one win in five.&nbsp;It will be a tripleheader on Saturday (January 15) as Haryana Steelers take on Dabang Delhi, followed by UP Yoddha against rock-bottom Telugu Titans. The final game on the night will see defending champions Bengal Warriors lock horns with U Mumba.

Super Pawan leads Bengaluru Bulls to top of PKL while Jaipur Pink Panthers win three on trot

The Jaipur Pink Panthers saw off a resolute Puneri Paltan in match 39 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) to register just their third win of the season with a score of 31-26. Despite an inspired comeback at the tail end of the first half, the poor run continued for the team from Maharashtra and have now lost a league high five matches this season. Arjun Deshwal was the star performer of the match as pocketed 11 points in the match for the Panthers.&nbsp;Paltans make storming comeback in the first halfThe Panthers made a great start to the game thanks to the exploits of Deshwal who smashed eight points in the first half. Courtesy of him the Panthers had a lead of seven points with a score of 16-9. Deshwal was also smart to pick four bonus points.&nbsp;The Paltans though came back with vengeance as Inamdar and Pankaj Mohite showed good defensive showing coupled with raiding opportunities. The former ended with four while Mohite brought three points in the first half to cut Panthers lead to just one point as they scored an all-out in the dying moments of the first half to take the half-time score to 18-17, as the Paltans trailed by just one point.&nbsp;Slow start to the second half from both sidesBoth teams were reluctant to give away points in the second half as both Paltans and Panthers lead for a few seconds. Deshwal on the other hand was determined to score a ‘Super 10’ as he was the man to watch out for. Substitute Deepak Hooda also contributed for the Panthers with three points. The scoreboard kept on floating as the Panthers led 23-20 with 10 minutes to go.&nbsp;Paltans lose concentration in the final five minutesSandeep Dhull and Sahul Kumar turned the screw in the final five minutes as they picked eight points in between them to record an all-out with less than five minutes to go. The all-out resulted in the Panthers leading 30-24 and with a successful review in the penultimate minute, as the scoreboard read 31-24. The Paltans though managed to get a point in the final minute, as they made sure they didn’t walk away empty-handed. Inamdar was the highest scorer for Paltans with six points, but could only steer his team to a single point.&nbsp;The win for the Panthers means they go seventh in the table, ending a three-match losing streak. They now have 18 points from seven games and have so far registered three wins and four losses. For Paltans the standings make no good reading as they languish second from bottom with just 11 points in seven games, having lost five already. They next take on defending champions Bengal Warriors on Sunday (January 9) while the Panthers are in action on Monday (January 10) against high-flying Dabang Delhi.

Jaipur run the show against bottom placed Puneri Paltan

It was all one-way traffic in match 37 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 8 as Bengaluru Bulls beat Jaipur Pink Panthers comprehensively by 38-31 to go top of the table. An inspired first-half performance from Pawan Sehrawat was the difference maker as he picked a sensational 18 points in the match. For the Panthers, it was their third defeat in a row as their dismal run continues.&nbsp;One-sided first halfThe Bulls started the match firing on all cylinders as they manufactured an early lead. Sehrawat was the difference maker as he grabbed hold of 14 points in the first half to help his side establish early dominance. The Panthers were all out in the first half courtesy of 10 successful raids from Sehrawat. At one stage the Bulls had a ten-point lead when the scoreboard read 20-10. However, thanks to Arjun Deshwal (6) and Naveen (3) the Panthers managed to reduce the gap at 14-20 at halftime.&nbsp;Bulls dominate the first 10 minutes of the second halfThe teams started evenly in the first five minutes of the second half as both teams were reluctant to give points away. However, substitute More G made a superb contribution in defense with three successful tackles as the Bulls once showed their ‘A-game'. Their dominance was highlighted with 10 minutes to go as the Bulls struck another all-out, expanding their lead to 15. Going into the final quarter the Panthers were hardly in the contest as they looked deflated, the scoreline read in the 30th minute read 32-17.&nbsp;Bulls take foot off the pedal in the final 10 minutesWith early second-half dominance, the Bulls had 16 points lead at one stage as they were in the driving seat. But the Panthers made a storming comeback as they managed to take a point away from the contest with damage limitation. Deshwal's 13-point haul saw them lose by a seven-point margin as had something to show on the points table.&nbsp;The win sees the Bulls go top of the pile with 28 points, leapfrogging Dabang Delhi (26) in the process. The Bulls are now six unbeaten in season 8 of the PKL, winning five and losing just once in the current season. For the Panthers, though it was back to drawing boards, as they now have lost three matches in a row, losing momentum at the wrong time. They have 12 points from six games, winning two and losing the other four. The Bulls next are in action on Sunday (January 9) against UP Yoddha while the Panthers take on rock bottom Puneri Paltan on Friday (January 7).

Bengaluru Bulls make light work of Jaipur Pink Panthers to go top of PKL table

Bottom-placed Puneri Paltan ended their three-match losing streak in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 8 with a well-deserved win by 33-26 against Gujarat Giants. Mohit Goyat (10 points) and Aslam Inamdar (8 points) were the shining light for the Pune-based franchise. The win was their second of the season as they try to climb from the bottom half of the table. After a defensive start, both teams started to open their cards, Goyat was the pick of the bunch with eight points in the first half. His exploits lead to the first all-out of the match, as Gujarat Giants lost momentum. The Paltans then won eight points in a row to come from behind and in a flash the score was 12-4 while they trailed 3-4 just minutes before. Defensive errors and poor mat awareness in the 10th minute lead to the all-out. By the end of the first half, the Paltans had a six-point cushion as they were leading with a score of 19-13. For the Giants, it was Rakesh who grabbed seven points, with six successful raids. Paltans picked 13 points from raids, highlighting their raiding province. &nbsp;Gujarat started the second half with just two players on the mat. They finally melted in the 25th minute as the Paltans registered their second all-out of the match. Defensive errors let the Giants down again. Ajay Kumar though kept on fighting as he reduced the gap to five points with a score of 19-24. Going into the final quarter, the team from Pune had a five-point lead. Goyat was well supported by Aslam Inamdar as they picked five points from four successful raids. Giants captain Pahal though had an off day as he picked only one defensive point in the first 30 minutes. Ajay on the other hand scalped his fifth 'Super 10' in PKL, but that only proved to be a consolation for his team. The Paltans however consolidated on their early lead and took the initiative to maintain it. It was until the last minute when Goyat's 'Man of the Match' performance coupled with a 'Super 10' saw them take the points as the match ended 33-26 in favour of the Paltans.&nbsp;The win against Gujarat lifts the Paltans from the bottom spot as they go above Telugu Titans in 11th place, having played a game more. They have now picked up 10 points from six games, which includes couple of wins. Gujarat on the flip side have gone five matches without a win, losing three with couple others ending in tie. They languish eighth in the table with 14 points. Pune are next in action on Friday (January 7) against Jaipur Pink Panthers while Gujarat Giants will be hoping for a much improved performance against Patna Pirates on Saturday (January 8).

Underdogs Puneri Paltan turn the tables to register second win of the PKL season

UP Yoddha showed great composure and planning as they beat struggling Telugu Titans 39-33 in&nbsp;Match 56 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 at The Sheraton Grand, Whitefield, in Bengaluru. Yoddha were better in all the departments with their raiders – Pardeep Narwal (10), Shrikant Jadhav (7) and Surender Gill (7) – picking up valuable points. Telugu Titans had a great opportunity to make a comeback by inflicting an ALL OUT on Yoddha in the final minutes but captain Rohit Kumar’s decision to go raiding backfired. Rajnish and Ankit Beniwal scored 9 points each for the Titans who are without a win in Season 8.&nbsp;Telugu Titans had Rohit Kumar back in the starting 7 but that didn’t really add to the raiding efforts in the first half. Rajnish and Ankit Beniwal showed glimpses of their immense potential, but the half surely belonged to Yoddha who had a clear plan for the Titans. Their defensive corner duo of Sumit and Nitesh Kumar found form after the initial raids making life difficult for the young Telugu raiders.&nbsp;At the other end Pardeep Narwal, Shrikant Jadhav and Surender Gill took turns to eat away points from the defence. Together, they inflicted an ALL OUT on the Titans with 7 minutes remaining for halftime to open a 3-point lead. Yoddha managed the time on the mat very well and ended the half on top with scores 19-14.&nbsp;U.P. continued to dominate the early minutes of the second half with Surender Gill scoring points in raids. He was ably backed by Nitesh Kumar who clinched his High 5 as Yoddha sensed an ALL OUT. But Titans’ Prince D. produced a stunning Super Tackle on Surender Gill and Ankit Beniwal pushed Nitesh out of bounds to keep Yoddha at touching distance.&nbsp;U.P. had a 3-point advantage going into the last minutes but with just two men on the mat, they were staring at an ALL OUT. But Yoddha produced two successive Super Tackles to stretch the lead again. Adarsh’s 2-point raid again reduced the lead again for Titans, but Yoddha's Pardeep Narwal held his nerves on multiple occasions to prevent an ALL OUT. His calmness in the final minute raids got him a Super 10 and helped U.P. clinch a 6-point win in the second match of Triple Panga night.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dabang Delhi down&nbsp;Haryana Steelers&nbsp;The Haryana Steelers fought their hearts out but went down 25-28 against Dabang Delhi KC iin the other match on Saturday.&nbsp;The two sides played out a neck-and-neck contest until the Delhi side affected two crucial raids in the dying minutes of the match to pull off a thrilling victory.&nbsp;Dabang Delhi KC got off to a good start and took a 6-3 lead in the opening minutes of the match. However, Meetu pulled off a fantastic raid in the 6th minute and moments later, the Steelers affected a great tackle and got close to Delhi’s score.But, the Delhi team carried out a tackle and a raid in the 11th minute and stayed in the lead at 9-6. The Haryana side made a brilliant tackle in the 13th minute and stayed in the contest. The Steelers pulled off a great tackle in the 15th minute, but the Delhi side still held the lead at 10-8.&nbsp;Kandola pulled off a top-quality raid and handed his team a two-point lead at 23-21. However, the Delhi side fought back and levelled the scores at 23-23. It was a league high fifth draw of the campaign for the Thalaivas in 10 matches of the PKL season 8. Former champions Jaipur now have 31 points and sit fourth in the standings, Tamil Thalaivas are one place below in fifth, with 30 points.&nbsp;The opening contest of the night served a treat as both teams went in search of a crucial win and produced nail-biting stuff. &nbsp;In the opening half, Jaipur took four-point lead as they ended the half at 17-13, while Thalaivas were still in the contest.&nbsp;With the contest far from over, the Thalaivas &nbsp;made sure they returned back the favors by winning the second half 18-14 and thus inflicting a tie. Raider Manjeet ended with a ‘high-five’ of nine points for Thalaivas while Arjun Deshwal and Naveen scored six points each for the Panthers.&nbsp;The second match of the day saw two former champions lock horn as &nbsp;Bengaluru Bulls and Patna Pirates squared off in a tight battle at the top. The Pirates consolidated on their halftime lead and ended the contest with a seven-point winning margin as the scoreboard read 38-31 in favour of the three-time champions Patna.&nbsp;For the Pirates, defender Sunil scalped nine points while raider Sachin raided eight. The impressive Pawan Sehrawat scored his 39th ‘Super 10’ in PKL history to end with 10 points for the Bulls.&nbsp;The win sees Patna Pirates go second in the table, only separated by score difference (SD) with the Bulls, but have a game hand. Both the former champions have 39 points each. The defeat did have bearings in terms of SD, but the Bulls still sit top of the pile and will have the perfect opportunity to extract revenge when the teams meet again on Thursday (January 20). The Pirates though wont have any easy encounters as they will take on another top aspirant Dabang Delhi in a fortnights time before they face the Bulls.

Delhi performed brilliantly in the first 10 minutes and got Patna Pirates all out in the 11th minute. Patna's defense took only two points in the first half and was the main reason behind the two-point deficit.&nbsp;In the absence of Naveen, Sandeep Narwal scored six points (5 raiding and 1 tackle) in the first 20 minutes for Dabang Delhi. Apart from him, Vijay took four points in raiding. An eight-point lead for Delhi seemed to be enough to seal the deal but surprise was still left.&nbsp;Tamil Thalaivas asked for a time out and the tabled tunred totally after that. Tamil side manaed to reduce the deficit to just two points with Naveen off the mat.&nbsp;Naveen might have managed to earn 14 raid points for his side but his effort perhaps might look a little inadequate as it only earned a draw for the Dabang Delhi.

But Kabaddi is a game of fine margins and Meetu picked up a 3-point Super Raid with under 2 minutes to level the score. They started on the front foot dominating the early spoils of the contest. Maninder Singh was the pick of the bunch for Bengal as he picked up nine points in the first half. Opposition Jaipur were also not sitting back as Arjun Deshwal responded with seven points of his own in the first half. At the break, it was Bengal Warriors who lead the spoils with a four-point lead as the scores read 18-14. Jaipur try to comeback Jaipur had an impressive start to the second half but an early loss of review in the second half didn’t help their cause.
