The Formula 1 calendar rolls on with the second leg of a thrilling triple-header — the legendary Monaco Grand Prix. Known for its glamour, tight turns, and unforgiving barriers, the Monaco GP remains a crown jewel on the F1 calendar. Here's everything you need to know about the session timings and what's new for 2025.
Leclerc Returns to Defend Home Glory
Last year saw Charles Leclerc break his home race curse and finally claim victory on the streets of Monte Carlo. With the 2025 edition just around the corner, anticipation is building once again as teams prepare for a race where qualifying often decides everything.
This year, however, there’s an intriguing twist: for the first time ever in Monaco, a mandatory two-stop strategy will be enforced during the race. That small change could have a big impact on what’s typically a processional event.
When is the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix?
The weekend kicks off on Friday, May 23, with the opening two practice sessions. The first gets underway at 17:00 local time, followed by the second session later in the evening. Final preparations come to a head on Saturday, May 24, with FP3 in the afternoon and qualifying set for 19:30.
The main event, the Monaco Grand Prix, will light up the streets on Sunday, May 25, beginning at 18:30 local time. Roughly 90 minutes later, we’ll find out who stands on the top step of the podium after Round 8 of the 2025 season.

Qualifying Holds the Key – As Always in Monaco
Monaco’s tight, winding circuit leaves little room for overtaking. That means Saturday’s qualifying session, arguably the most crucial of the entire season, will be the one to watch. With drivers dancing inches from the barriers and the pressure to nail every lap, expect drama and surprises.
