Formula 3 has officially confirmed the ten teams selected for the 2025-2027 seasons. Nine teams from the 2024 campaign will continue, while DAMS will join the grid as a newcomer. Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has confirmed it.

The retained teams are AIX Racing, ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, Hitech Grand Prix, MP Motorsport, PREMA Racing, Rodin Motorsport, Trident, and Van Amersfoort Racing. Jenzer Motorsport will exit the championship, making way for DAMS, which currently competes in Formula 2.

Each team will continue to field three cars, maintaining a 30-car grid for the upcoming seasons.

Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel stated, “

For the next three-year cycle, we have retained nine of our current teams. Their level of professionalism and expertise guarantee the best preparation for the young drivers who aspire to progress to the highest levels of motorsport."

He added, “To complete the grid, we welcome DAMS to the list of selected teams. We know them very well from the Formula 2 Championship. Their pedigree and level of performance make them the perfect addition to the F3 field."

Michel also expressed gratitude to Jenzer Motorsport, saying, “They have left their mark in the Championship, and I completely respect their decision to focus now on new challenges."

Selected 10 teams

This announcement follows the reveal of the 2025 Formula 3 car in August, which has undergone redevelopment to better support emerging drivers. The new F3 season will kick off in March 2025, supporting the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, featuring the debut of a new Dallara car and a new engine built by Mecachrome, aimed at enhancing reliability after previous challenges faced by the series.

F3 will once again have a 30-car grid from 2025 to 2027, with each team fielding three cars at all rounds, providing opportunities for younger drivers to impress. 9 of the 10 teams remain in the category, including Trident, following their Drivers’ Championship win with Leonardo Fornaroli and Prema, who once again took the Teams’ Championship.

Formula 3 is classified as a third-tier open-wheel racing series, primarily recognized for its role in nurturing young talent in motorsport. It operates under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and has evolved considerably since its inception.

Race Format

F3 race weekends typically mirror those of Formula 1, consisting of:

  • Practice Sessions: A single practice session allows teams to fine-tune their setups.
  • Qualifying: A qualifying session determines the starting grid for races.
  • Races: The weekend usually features multiple races, including a Sprint Race and a Feature Race, with points awarded similarly to Formula 1 but with some distinctions in scoring.
