Mercedes has announced a significant change for Lewis Hamilton ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The British driver is gearing up for his final three races with Mercedes as he prepares for a switch to Ferrari in 2025.
Hamilton, who has secured six world championships and shattered numerous records with the team, has faced a challenging final season with the W15, which has shown inconsistent performance throughout the year.
Talking about his final three races he will be a part of it and is also offered a change in the last races. While his car which he has been complaining had not been changed but his helmet is being changed.
Lewis Hamilton is currently 7th in the Drivers Standing 2024 with 190 points.
When Will Lewis Hamilton Move to Ferrari?
Hamilton’s replacement at Mercedes will be rising star Kimi Antonelli, who is set to make his full-time debut with the team in 2025. Until then, Hamilton will aim to maximize his results in the remaining races of the 2024 season, but he’ll undoubtedly have one eye on Ferrari, who have shown impressive pace in recent events.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz each claimed victories at the US and Mexican GPs, respectively, propelling Ferrari past Red Bull into second place in the constructors' standings. However, Hamilton will have to wait until 2025 to fully benefit from Ferrari’s newfound speed, with his sights firmly set on capturing a record-breaking eighth world title.
A New Helmet for Hamilton
As part of his final races with Mercedes, Hamilton will also debut a new helmet design. Mercedes recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Hamilton would wear a specially designed helmet for the upcoming races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
The helmet design was the result of a competition where UK students were invited to create a new helmet for the seven-time world champion. Mercedes revealed the winning designs, with Hamilton set to wear them in his final races of 2024.
"We asked. You delivered, We teamed up with @INEOS and @INEOSHygienics to challenge UK students to design a helmet for Lewis. From nearly 2,000 entries, we’re proud to announce the three winning designs. A huge thanks to all who participated!," the team wrote on X.
This new helmet marks another chapter in Hamilton’s legendary career as he prepares to close this chapter with Mercedes and look ahead to his future with Ferrari.
Hamilton's performance questioned
Former Haas F1 Team principal Guenther Steiner has suggested that Hamilton’s complaints about the car have been easier to make given that his departure from the team is imminent.
Speaking on the Red Flags podcast, Steiner remarked: “I mean, the car, it is what it is. I think Lewis is just at that point he doesn’t like the car, he complains about that, he sees the glass half empty while George sees his half full. They’ve got a few more races to go.”
