This Sunday, four more drivers will see their championship aspirations come to an end as the Cup Series heads to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course for the Round of 12 finale. The North Carolina track, known as the "Roval," presents a unique challenge with its combination of the infield road course and the traditional oval. For 2024, the 17-turn layout has undergone some modifications that are sure to affect the race.

When is the NASCAR Race at the Charlotte Roval?
The Bank of America ROVAL 400 is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Before the race, there will be practice and qualifying sessions. The 38 drivers will be divided into two groups, each with a 20-minute practice session.
The qualifying format is as follows:
First Round: 15 minutes for each group, allowing unlimited laps. The five fastest from each group will advance.
Second Round: 10 minutes for the 10 drivers who advanced, also allowing unlimited laps. Starting positions 11 through 38 are based on the first round, while the top 10 starting spots are determined by the fastest laps in this round.

Two Xfinity Series drivers will step up to the Cup Series this Sunday: road course experts A.J. Allmendinger and Shane van Gisbergen, both driving for Kaulig Racing. Additionally, Kaz Grala for Rick Ware Racing and Josh Bilicki for MBM Motorsports will also participate.

NASCAR Roval Winners History
Of the 38 drivers in the field, five are past winners at the Charlotte Roval, with Elliott being the only one with multiple victories. He won consecutive races in 2019 and 2020, while Blaney claimed the inaugural event in 2018. Other winners include Larson (2021), Bell (2022), and Allmendinger (2023).
NASCAR Playoff Standings and Scenarios for Charlotte
With Chastain and Stenhouse winning the first two races in the Round of 12, no playoff drivers have advanced to the Round of 8 based on victories. Byron is the only driver to have accumulated enough points to secure his spot, leaving the other 11 drivers battling for the final seven slots.
