While Ravindra's commendable 116 from 89 balls provided a strong foundation for the Kiwis to pursue the 389-run target, the Australians managed to secure the win, even with <a href="https://m.thesportstak.com/playerstats/cricket/jimmy-neesham-cricket-new-zealand" target="_blank">Jimmy Neesham's </a>spirited efforts.

Speaking at the post-match press conference also touched upon the enthusiastic fan support and Ravindra's ties to India.

"Oh, well, I think, I've been asked this question a lot, but I guess I'm 100% Kiwi and I'm very proud of my Indian heritage. But I guess it's proud to be able to do it in the country where my parents were born and where they grew up and where a lot of my family is. But I think, obviously the conditions, it's good for batting and being able to come to India previously on tours and trying to not perfect my game but I try get better. I guess that that helps in a way," Ravindra articulated.

The conversation also veered towards the overwhelming support he received from the Dharamsala audience, especially since it was considered a 'neutral ground' for New Zealand.

"Yeah, I think this was probably one of the best crowds we've played in India and having that sort of fanfare and the response, like how they responded to the game was pretty special, I think. As a kid you always dream of the crowd chanting your name and it was cool to see them do that on multiple occasions even when Aussie were batting and when Nish [Neesham] did his thing at the end. So, I think it's always special, you sort of soak in those moments and hopefully we never really take them for granted," he expressed.

Despite their recent setback against Australia, New Zealand remains well-positioned to secure a spot in the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-finals.

Former Pakistan fast bowler <a href="https://m.thesportstak.com/cricket-news/wasim-akram-angry-shuts-mickey-arthur-for-bcci-event-remark-india-pakistan-odi-world-cup-2023-babar-azam" target="_blank">Wasim Akram </a>has strongly criticised Babar Azam's team following their humiliating seven-wicket loss to India in the ODI World Cup match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. Akram, renowned as the 'Sultan of Swing' during his playing career, attributed <a href="https://m.thesportstak.com/cricket-news/ind-vs-pak-babar-azam-led-pakistan-surrender-rohit-sharma-roars-ahmedabad-to-make-it-8-0-in-world-cup" target="_blank">Pakistan's lacklustre performance to poor fitness standards</a>.

"I am concerned about the fitness levels of these players. Currently, there are no fitness tests in place. When Misbah-ul-Haq was the coach and selector, he used to conduct the Yo-Yo Test and other assessments. Professional cricketers should undergo fitness evaluations at least once a month. Neglecting this aspect can lead to such defeats," Akram stated on A Sports.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the instability in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) leadership over the past three years, which has created uncertainty among the team members and management regarding their future.

"PCB has seen three chairmen in the last 3 years. This created a scare among the team members and management about whether they would be part of the next series or not. From 154 for 2 and then 191 all out was really, really disappointing," the former Pakistan captain said.

India's victory over Pakistan extended their unbeaten record in ODI World Cup matches against their arch-rivals to 8-0. This remarkable triumph was celebrated by millions of fans. Their next match will be against Bangladesh on October 19 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, while Pakistan will face Australia on October 20 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Wasim Akram also expressed his displeasure with Pakistan's performance and criticized Babar Azam for exchanging jerseys with Virat Kohli in front of the cameras rather than doing it privately in the dressing room. "That’s what I exactly said when I saw the picture (getting the shirts publicly, not privately)," Akram said on A Sports.

"Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it – if your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room," he added.

After a 12-year absence from the ODI World Cup, the <a href="https://m.thesportstak.com/cricket-news/pakistan-vs-netherlands-odi-world-cup-history-the-story-of-two-clashes-seven-years-apart" target="_blank">Netherlands are aiming for at least a semifinal berth</a>, says their star all-rounder <a href="https://m.thesportstak.com/playerstats/cricket/bas-de-leede-cricket-netherlands" target="_blank">Bas de Leede</a>.

The team's standout all-rounder and son of three-time World Cup participant for the Netherlands, Tim de Leede, expressed this ambition ahead of their inaugural match against Pakistan on Friday.

The Netherlands, having outperformed the West Indies and Ireland in the July Qualifiers, are the sole associate nation in the World Cup. They are anticipated to spring some surprises in their nine league matches.

When questioned if the team would benefit from a carefree approach rather than succumbing to self-imposed pressures, Bas emphasized the potential gains from this experience. He stated, “Probably a mixture of both. I don't think any of the teams have got anything to lose. They've got something to gain, which is winning the World Cup. For us, it's special being back since 2011, but our aim is the semifinal. Even if we don't reach it, as long as we've played our best, we can hold our heads high. By targeting the semi-final, we might surpass expectations.”

The 23-year-old, one of the few professional cricketers in the team, expressed his excitement about cricket being broadcast live in the Netherlands for the first time in four years. “Making the semifinals isn't the sole factor in advancing cricket in our nation. Just being here is significant. The live broadcast in Holland is monumental for the sport,” he remarked.

Bas played a pivotal role in the July World Cup Qualifiers. The team, having not played since then, arrived early in India and underwent a week-long training in Alur. Unfortunately, their practice matches against Karnataka and World Cup warm-ups in Trivandrum and Guwahati were affected by rain.

Discussing the team's preparation, Bas mentioned, “Playing together is rare due to our scattered team. The match against Karnataka was a valuable experience in adapting to Indian conditions. While it's unfortunate that the warm-ups were rained out, we strive to simulate match situations during practice.”

On seeking advice from his seasoned father before departing for India, Bas shared, “Not much, really. He advised me to enjoy the experience. We discussed his World Cup memories, which was heartwarming. But beyond that, not much.”
