Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat's husband Somvir Rathee said that he will not convince her wife to take a U-turn from her wrestling retirement because their is no one standing with her. Vinesh announced her retirement from the sport a day after she disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 because of 100 gm over weight. She was the first Indian female wrestler who have qualified for the final of Olympics.

 

After getting disqualified from the Paris Olympics she filed the plea to get a silver medal but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed her petition to be awarded a joint silver. In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, her husband Somvir revealed that they were all alone nobody helped them. 

 

“I have seen that for the last two years, we have no federation, we have no one. We have seen everything, no one has been standing. If there is no one standing with a player, what can the player do? It is impossible for us, it will not happen to the world” Vinesh Phogat's husband

Vinesh Phogat gets rousing welcome in India

 

Vinesh Phogat returned to India on August 17 and she gets a great welcome by the fans and family. "I thank all the countrymen, I am very fortunate," said Vinesh as she received a warm welcome upon her return from Paris where she became the first Indian woman wrestler to make the final of an Olympics. Fans showered flower petals upon her arrival in the national capital.

Vinesh's mother, Premlata said that the country has given her more honour than the gold medal.


"Everyone from our village and nearby areas has come here to welcome her. We will felicitate her... she is a champion for me. The country has given her more honour than a gold medal," Premlata said.
