Two more no.4 finishes and India slipped further in Paris Olympics 2024 medal tally. On August 5, young shuttler Lakshya Sen and skeet mixed team shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet Naruka missed out on bronze medal. After another medal-less day, India have three bronze medals in the bag. Nisha Dahiya who looked set to qualify for the semifinal after leading 8-2 suffered a freak injury and got ruled out of the tournament. However, it was not all doom and gloom as Avinash Sable created history by qualifying for men's 3000m steeplechase final.
Badminton
22-year-old Lakshya could not win a bronze medal on his Olympic debut. He lost the bronze medal match to Malaysia; Lee Zii Jia in a match that lasted an hour and 11 minutes. After a 21-13, 16-21, 11-21 loss, Lakshya finished fourth.
Wrestling
Nisha Dahiya was left in tears after she lost to North Korea's Sol Gum Pak after suffering an injury in her women's 68kg freestyle quarterfinal bout. From leading 8-2, she went down to Pak 8-10. Nisha’s injury caused controversy as the coach claims that it was intentional from the 18-year-old Korean.
Athletics
Avinash Sable finished fifth in his heats as he completed the race with timing of 8:15:43. Sable led the race for the first 1,000m and then slowed down. He will compete in the final on August 8.
Birthday girl Kiran Pahal finished seventh and could not book an automatic spot in women's 400m semifinal. After clocking 52.51 seconds, she will compete in the repechage round. She will compete in the repechage round on August 6.
Table Tennis
Manika Batra-led women's table tennis team beat higher-ranked Romania 3-2 to book quarter-final spot. India took a 2-0 lead with Sreeja Akula-Archana Kamath and Manika Batra winning their opening games. However, India faced two defeats which led to Manika facing Adina Diaconu in the decider. Manika bested Adina 11-5, 11-9, 11-9 in a closely-contested decider and helped India qualify for quarterfinal on August 7.

Sailing
Indian sailors Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan finished 18th and 21st in their respective dinghy respectively. They crashed out of the tournament as top 10 placed sailors progressed into the final after their race was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions.
