On the 14th day of the Paris Olympics, India added another medal to it medal tally. 21-year-old Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat scripted history by clinching the bronze medal in the 57kg freestyle wrestling category. Defeating Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico with a convincing score of 13-5, Sehrawat secured India's sixth medal at the Paris Games. This remarkable victory also established him as India's youngest-ever medalist at the Summer Olympics.

Sehrawat's achievement is even more extraordinary considering his young age. At just 21 years and 24 days old, he surpassed PV Sindhu's previous record for the youngest Indian medalist. His bronze medal in wrestling marks India's eighth Olympic medal in this sport.

After winning the bronze, in an exclusive interaction with Sports Tak, India's pride Sehrawat revealed his love for watching ‘Tarak Mehta ka ulta Chashma’ show. The Indian wrestler was asked what he likes to do in his leisure time apart from wrestling, to which he promptly said:

 

“When I am not doing wrestling, I love to watch ‘Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma”.

Despite his recent triumph, Aman Sehrawat's focus was already on the future. The young wrestler displayed remarkable determination as he discussed his aspirations beyond the current Olympics. His mind was set on overcoming new challenges and seizing upcoming opportunities. Looking ahead, he declared that his next target will be to prepare for the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 Asian Games.

How Sehrawat rocked Cruz to taste glory!

 

The match between Sehrawat and Cruz was a closely fought battle. Sehrawat held a slight advantage, leading 4-3 at the end of the first round. In the second half, Sehrawat's dominance became evident as he extended his lead by securing three more points through a successful takedown. Cruz encountered a brief setback when he required medical attention, disrupting his rhythm. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Sehrawat added two more points to his tally, stretching the gap to 10-5. With a determined effort, Sehrawat continued to apply pressure, eventually securing a decisive victory with a final score of 13-5. This win marked a historic moment for India, as it was the country's first wrestling medal at the Paris Olympics.
