After which an initiative was taken to involve women in this sport and from the 1900 Paris Olympics, female athletes started participating in these games. But it took them 112 years to catch up with men and in 2012, for the first time, women created history by participating in all sports in the London Olympics. 2012 London Olympics became historic

 

Women participated for the first time in the Paris Olympic Games in 1900. However, at that time women were limited to only a few sports. Women athletes participated in all sports in the 2012 London Olympics for the very first time. In fact, for the first time, women's boxing was given a place in this Olympics instead of baseball. Along with this, the National Olympic Committees of 206 countries sent female athletes.

 

4655 Women athletes participated

 

A total of 10,518 athletes participated in the 2012 London Olympic Games, which ran from 27 July to 12 August. 4655 women along with 5863 men participated in these games.

Women's competition started

 

Women's competition also started in the historic London Olympic Games of 2012. On 25 July, the first match of the group stage of women's football was played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the games formally opened.

 

These countries sent female athletes for the first time

 

Many countries registered women's participation for the first time in the 2012 Olympic Games. This included Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Brunei. This was the first time that all eligible countries sent at least one female athlete for each Olympic sport.

America won the most medals

 

America captured first place in the medal tally in the 2012 Olympic Games. He won 104 medals, which included 46 gold medals. China stood second and won 91 medals including 38 gold. Host Great Britain finished third with 65 medals.

 

India created history

 

India gave its best performance at that time by winning 6 medals in the 2012 Olympic Games. With two silver and 4 bronze medals, India had left behind its best performance in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Saina Nehwal also gave India its first individual women's bronze medal in Olympic history in badminton in these games.

 

2012 Olympic Games mascot

 

Mandeville and Wenlock were included as mascots for the 2012 Summer and Paralympics. It was announced on 19 May 2010. The name Wenlock is taken from the British town Shropshire. The inspiration for the modern Olympic Games came from this town, while Mandeville, a village in Buckinghamshire, is said to be the birthplace of the Paralympic Games.
