Apart from Manu Bhakar and Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Babuta missed the bronze in the 10-meter air rifle by a small margin. Babuta finished in fourth place with a score of 208.4 and in the women's 10-meter air rifle qualification round, Ramita Jindal finished seventh and could not qualify for the medal competition.

After defeating New Zealand in the first match of the Paris Olympics, the Indian hockey team narrowly escaped defeat against 2016 Rio Olympic champion Argentina and played a 1-1 draw. For India, their captain Harmanpreet Singh saved the team from defeat by scoring a goal in the last minute. Now the Indian hockey team is in third place with four points from two matches, one win, and one draw.

Lakshay Sen's big win

 

In badminton, Lakshya Sen recovered from a slow start to defeat Belgium's Julien Carragee 21-19, 21-14 in straight sets in Group L of men's single competition. Lakshya had defeated Kevin Corden in his first match of the group on Sunday but all his results were 'deleted' after the Guatemalan player withdrew from the competition due to an elbow injury. In this way, there is now a challenge between only three players in Group L, whereas earlier four players were staking their claim.

In the match played at 12.30 am on 29th July, India's table tennis star Manika Batra faced 19-year-old Prithika Pavde of host France. In the round of 32 match, Manika defeated Prithika of France 4-0 (11-0). -9, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7) and qualified for the quarterfinals.
