Neeraj Chopra created history at the Paris Olympics 2024 after winning the silver medal and becoming the fourth Indian Athlete after independence to win two medals in the Olympics. He has joined the elite list of two-time medalists with Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu, and Manu Bhaker. Despite Neeraj’s abysmal day he managed to clinch the silver medal with his 89.45 metre throw, his only throw which was not registered as a foul. However, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the Gold medal making a 92.97-metre insane throw that stunned the world helping his country win a medal after 32 years.

Neeraj Chopra's mother, Saroj Devi, heartfelt remarks about Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem have taken the internet by storm. Arshad defeated her son to win the Gold medal in the Olympic men's javelin final. Despite his son winning a silver medal she expressed love and warmth for the gold medalist from Pakistan.
"We are happy with the silver. The one who got the gold (Arshad Nadeem) is also my child," Saroj Devi (Neeraj’s mother) told ANI.
She was happy with how his son delivered at the Olympics despite the injury, she also spoke about making his favourite food once he returns.
India and Pakistan share a heated and intense rivalry across sports but Javelin Throw competition has been one arena where the story of brotherhood, love, and camaraderie has prevailed time and again. The boy from Pakistan and Chopra share a healthy bond with both athletes having immense respect for each other. Nadeem over the years has acknowledged how he looks up to Neeraj and the 26-year-old too has been vocal about his bond with Arshad transcending borders.
In his second attempt, Nadeem's stunning throw of 92.97 meters placed him sixth on the all-time list of javelin throws. He also set a World Record with just his second throw assuring a medal for his nation despite the increased level of the competition. Meanwhile, Neeraj’s Father Satish Kumar also expressed his emotions about the game.
"Everyone has their day. Today was Pakistan's day. But we have won silver, and it is a proud thing for us," said Neeraj's father.
