Norman Gilbert Pritchard
The first medal for India in the Olympics was won by Norman Gilbert Pritchard. The British-Indian athlete was the first player in Indian history to win two Olympic medals. He won silver medals in both men's 200-meter and men's 200-meter hurdles during the 1900 Paris Olympics. Pritchard was of British origin but was born in Kolkata and used to represent India.
Sushil Kumar
Wrestler Sushil Kumar created history in the 2012 London Olympics as he became the second player of India after Pritchard and the first player of Indian origin to win two Olympic medals. He won silver in men's 66 kg wrestling. Earlier, he had won the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
PV Sindhu
After Pritchard and Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu is the only Indian athlete with two Olympic medals in front of her name. Sindhu is also the first Indian female player to win two medals in the Olympics. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sindhu won the silver medal in women's singles badminton. After this, she won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
