Paris Olympic 2024: Birthday girl Kiran finishes seventh in women's 400 meter heat, gets another chance to reach semi-finals

Kiran, who celebrated her birthday, finished seventh in her heat in the women's 400-meter athletics event at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, now she will again try her best on the track to make it to the semi-finals by racing in the repechage round.

On her 24th birthday, Kiran completed the race in 52.51 seconds, which was much more than her season best of 50.92 seconds. Dominica's world champion Marilidi Paulino won her heat with a time of 49.42 seconds, followed by America's Aliya Butler (50.52) and Austria's Suzanne Gogel-Walli (50.67) in second and third place respectively.

Talking about the same, the athlete who finished in top-3 in each of the six heats has secured a place in the semi-finals. Whereas except the athlete who did not start the race and did not finish the race, all others will now race in the repechage round.

 

Kiran could not give her best performance


Talking about Kiran, she had qualified directly for the Paris Olympics 2024 by clocking her personal best of 50.92 seconds in the National Inter-State Championship in June. Now her repechage race will be held on August 6.
