Paris Olympics 2024 medal tally: India slip out of top 50 after another medal-less day, check top 10 here

Highlights:

India have won three bronze medals in Paris Olympics 2024 so far.

Hosts France are placed third on medals tally with 12 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze medals.

The Indian contingent has won three medals so far, all bronze. After another medal-less day, India slipped to 53rd position on the Olympics medal tally 2024. On Day 8 of the Paris Olympics 2024, Manu Bhaker came the closest to winning a bronze medal and create history but she finished fourth with 28 points. 
 

So far, Manu has won two bronze medals, one in women’s 25m Air Pistol 10m event and another in 10m Air Pistol mixed team event along with Sarabjot Singh. India’s third bronze medal was won by Swapnil Kusale in 50m rifle 3 positions on August 1. 
 

On Day 8, two Indian athletes crashed out of quarterfinals. Archer Deepika Kumari and boxer Nishant Dev’s campaign at the Games came to an end. Dev’s loss to Mexico’s Marco Verde caused controversy as many including Beijing Olympics bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh.

Golden chance to assure medals

Indian athletes have a shot at confirming two medals on August 4. If Lovlina Borgohain wins her quarterfinal bout, People's Republic of China's Li Qian, she will confirm a medal for India at the Games. She will also become the first Indian boxer to win two medals at the Olympics.

India’s star shuttler Lakshya Sen will go up against former world no.1, Denmark's Victor Axelsen. If he overcomes Axelsen, he will be confirmed at least a silver medal, India’s first at the ongoing Games. However, if he loses, he will play the loser of the other semifinal match for bronze medal match.
