India's lone rower at the Paris Olympics, Balraj Panwar, fell short of advancing to the medal rounds. Despite a strong effort in the men's single sculls, Panwar finished fifth in his quarterfinal with a time of 7:05.10. He will now compete in the C/D semifinals to determine his final ranking between 13th and 24th place.

 

Balraj Panwar's Olympic journey faced a setback

 

The race for Balraj Panwar was a high-pressure one, requiring a top-three finish to secure a spot in the semifinals. However, the Indian rower faced an uphill battle from the start. At the 500m mark, he was in sixth place with a time of 1:42.28.

Maintaining his fifth position, Panwar reached the halfway point at 1000m with a time of 3:29.24. As the race progressed, the gap between him and the leading trio widened, with Panwar recording a time of 5:17.22 at the 1500m mark. Despite a strong final push, he couldn’t bridge the gap and secure a place in the semifinals.

Balraj Panwar's Olympic journey continues

 

Balraj Panwar concluded his quarterfinal race with a fifth-place finish, clocking a time of 7:05.10. While this marked the end of his medal aspirations for the event, his Olympic journey is not over. Panwar will now compete in the C/D semifinals, striving to achieve the best possible ranking between 13th and 24th place.
