Pakistan legendary speedster Shoaib Akhtar lavished praise on Pakistan's star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem after his Olympics record throw in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. Arshad Nadeem broke the 2008 Olympic record with 92.27 metres. His incredible feat shattered the previous Olympic record held by Andreas Thorkildsen since the 2008 Beijing Games. If Nadeem clinch a gold medal here then he will become the first Pakistani individual athlete who clinched a gold medal in a multinational event.

Pakistan's Olympic medal tally
Pakistan has won 10 medals in the Olympic Games so far. Including three gold, one silver and 4 bronze medals. The last time Pakistan won a medal in hockey was in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Pakistan's hockey team are the only one from their country who won Olympic gold medal. If Nadeem wins the gold medal, he will become the first player of the country to do so in an individual event. Let us tell you that Pakistan has won two medals in individual events so far. This includes one in wrestling and one in boxing. Mohammad Bashir won bronze in 1960 and Hussain Shah won bronze in 1988.
How Arshad Nadeem started the sport
Nadeem was not just a javelin thrower, he had also played cricket for Pakistan and has participated in domestic. However, Nadeem has participated in athletics in school and has won many medals. Nadeem entered athletics in the year 2011. In the year 2015, Nadeem became the national champion of Pakistan. Nadeem was selected for the South Asian Games for India in 2026. Nadeem became the first track and field athlete from Pakistan to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. He won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
