Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat who was disqualified from wrestling after reaching the final due to 100gm overweight leaves the games village before the final verdict of her appeal to get a silver medal. Vinesh created history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to qualify for the final in the Olympics.
However, a few hours before this announcement, Vinesh had appealed against her disqualification with CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports).
"Hockey players are arriving at 8:10 AM tomorrow (Tuesday). Wrestlers are arriving at 10 AM. IOA had pre booked flights as they always do for the athletes but still there’s no confirmation of Vinesh that she is taking flight or not" revealed sources close to Sports Tak.
Vinesh's final hearing will take place on August 13 and her case was basically fought on these three key points:
-She did not commit any fraud.
• Her weight gain was due to the body’s natural recovery process.
• It is the athletes’ fundamental right to look after her body
• Her body weight was under the prescribed limit on day 1 of the competition, and weight gain only happened because of recovery and that’s not a fraud. That is her fundamental right to replenish her body with nutrients needed to allow her body to recover.

A team of four lawyers, Joelle Monlouis, Estelle Ivanova, Habbine Estelle Kim, and Charles Amson, represented Vinesh at the hearing. These lawyers, associated with the Paris Bar, are providing their services pro bono for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
While asked about her mental health, A close source to Vinesh told Sports Tak that “Vinesh is feeling little better now, started eating a bit. She is not talking to anyone though. We all are with her."
Devastated by her disqualification from the Olympics, Vinesh Phogat abruptly ended her wrestling career the following day. The 29-year-old, competing in her third Olympic Games, said she lacked the strength to continue. Global sporting icons rallied behind the shattered athlete.
