A young female judoka in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province tragically passed away after sustaining head injuries during the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt's judo trials. Fiza Sher Ali, a promising 20-year-old student, succumbed to head injuries while participating in the 44kg category bout in Mardan.
"She was a first year BS student in Peshawar and had come to Mardan for the trials and was new to the sport," an official of the Pakistan Judo Federation said.
He said that Fiza fell immediately during her match and did not recover.

"She was given medical treatment at the venue and rushed to the hospital but didn't survive," the official added.
Despite immediate attention and swift action by Rescue 1122 officials who transported her to Mardan Hospital, Fiza's injuries proved fatal. This incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt, a program designed to discover and nurture young sports talents across the country.
Masood Ahmad, Vice President of the Pakistan Judo Federation, revealed the tragic incident, emphasising the dangers that young athletes encounter while chasing their aspirations.
The entire judo community and sports fans across the country are grieving over the passing of Fiza, a talented judoka.
