India's medal tally in Asian Games 2023 has reached 81 as of October 4.India has also emulated its tally of most gold medals (18) at a single edition of Asiad.

India continued its medal-winning spree on Day 11 at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou. India super show in archery, athletics, and boxing on October 4 have further elevated the nation's stature in the Games. Notable mentions include the commendable performances of Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena in javelin throw, and the impressive Compound Archery mixed duo of Ojas Deotale and Jyothi Surekha Vennam.

This year's Asiad has already witnessed India surpassing its own benchmarks. The country's medal count has now exceeded the 70-medal record set during the Jakarta 2018 Games. With three more action-packed days left in the Hangzhou 2022 Asiad, India's medal tally is projected to ascend even higher.

 

October 5th, Day 12 of the games, is particularly anticipated due to several medal events scheduled across different sports categories such as archery, squash, wrestling, and athletics. The spotlight will be on the archery quarterfinals, where India's men's and women's compound teams will compete. Given the presence of world champions in the squad, expectations are high for India to clinch the gold.

 

In squash, the country's hopes are pinned on two promising final matches. The dynamic duo of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu is slated to represent India in the mixed doubles, while squash veteran Saurav Ghosal will vie for the title in the men's singles final.

 

Additionally, the wrestling segment on October 5th promises exhilarating action with five Indian contenders ready to grapple for the top spots. The roster includes two contenders in the Greco-Roman category and three in the Women's Freestyle, spearheaded by the talented World Championship Bronze medallist, Antim Panghal.
