India's star athlete Neeraj Chopra was made to throw his attempt once again in the Javelin Throw after his first attempt was cancelled because of a technical event which forced the organisers to request the Olympic champion to retake his attempt.
Neeraj had thrown well north of 85 metres and looked set for the gold medal if the attempt had stood. However, the second time was not as good, with the Javelin star throwing 82.38 in his official first attempt.
The moment that Neeraj threw his first unofficial attempt of the event, he seemed sure to have made a good throw, reminiscent of his gold-medal winning attempt in the Tokyo Olympics. His attempt and the subsequent confusion did not go down well with many of the fans on social media.
Eventually, his first attempt was counted and the second one was not counted, as the judges sorted the technical glitches to make sure the event continued smoothly.
