The India men's double pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty recorded a thrilling victory over the Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, who had won the silver medal at 2024 Paris Olympics. After losing the first set by 19-21, Satvik and Chirag completed a fantastic comeback and won the next two sets 21-15 and 21-17 respectively.
Notably, this was just the third victory for the Indian pairing in their nine meeting against the World No.6 Chinese duo. Satvik and Chirag were trailing 15-17 in the deciding set at one stage, but managed to clinch six straight points to clinch a remarkable victory.
This match must have been a big confidence booster for Satvik and Chirag, who had recorded defeats in all of their last three meetings against Liang and Wang. It looked like the Chinese pair would once again dominate over the Indian duo after they had won the first set, however Satvik and Chirag pulled off a sensational comeback.

Satvik and Chirag will now be facing the World No. 2 pairing of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik from Malaysia. Interestingly, the two pairings had faced-off against each other in the Bronze medal match at the 2024 Paris Olympics and it was the Malaysians who came out on top. This will definitely be a massive match for Satvik and Chirag as they wqill definitely be looking to take revenge for the heartbreaking defeat last year.
Indian shuttlers on top
Meanwhile, it turned out to be a great day for the Indian shuttlers as first PV Sindhu defeated China's Wang Zhi Yi in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals of women's singles. Then, the duo of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto secured a massive victory over Hong Kong China's Tang Chun Man and Ying Suet in mixed doubles and advanced to the last 8.
Sindhu will now be facing-off against Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani while the duo of Dhruv and Tanisha will be locking horns against Malaysia's pairing of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.
