John Cena is a synonymous with the wrestling entertainment industry and has established himself as one of the most accomplished stars in WWE. Cena is currently tied with the former WWE legend "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the most World Champion titles (16) and has been an inspiration for many WWE fighters. However, in an astounding turn of events, a WWE veteran who has made his own place in wrestling entertainment recently claimed that Cena has been his childhood hero in spite of the latter sharing a five-year age gap with him.
He also shared that he would watch Cena's matches every Sunday morning and mentioned incorporating Cena's iconic "Five Knuckle Shuffle" and "Attitude Adjustment" into his own bouts.
A fan who became a peer of John Cena
It was none other than one of the most loved in-ring characters of WWE, R-Truth, known for his comedic persona in the American promotion. Truth, during an interview, made the aforementioned revelations and also noted that he literally became Cena for a certain point in time in WWE and lived the dream of playing his 'childhood hero' in the American wrestling promotion.
"Oh man, I broke him too with that one. That was good, man. And they’re still running with it. I love it, man. I’m not going to burst nobody’s bubble. I’m not a bubble buster. I love it. He is my childhood hero. I would be legs crossed watching him every Saturday morning," Truth stated during the interview.
"They actually had it written out and I was like, oh this is funny! But I did text John and asked about dressing like him. I got the hahaha laughing emoji, he said I think it’s great. Run with it. So I become my childhood hero with his blessing, Everything, even wearing shorts. He said, ‘Truth you don’t have to ask me to wear shorts in the ring.’ I said, ‘Man, but I want to. I want to be you. I want to do everything you do, walk, talk. How do you hold your head to the side? I want to do everything. I want to be you," he further added.
This fun banter between R-Truth and Cena perfectly exemplifies why the latter is admired by both fans and counterparts, serving as an inspiration for many aspiring WWE superstars.
