PV Sindhu along with seven athletes get Padma Awards

119 Padma awards were distributed to the achievers in different fields in the President House by Ram Nath Kovind on November 8. The list comprised of seven Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards. THe list includes 29 women awardees, 16  posthumous awardees and one transgender awardee.

 

Out of 102 Padma Shri Awards, seven awards were bagged by the sports personalities. The list features Mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa from Arunachal Pradesh, Table Tennis star Mouma Das of West Bengal, Basketball player P. Anitha from Tamil Nadu, PT Usha’s coach Madhavan Nambiar from Kerala, Asian Games gold-medallist Sudha Hari Narayan Singh from Uttar Pradesh (UP), Olympic-bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh from Haryana and para-athlete KY Venkatesh from Karnataka.

 

India's star badminton player PV Sindhu who has one silver and bronze medal in Olympics was awarded with Padma Bhushan. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were also present during the award ceremony.

 

The above list of seven names who were honoured with an award is concerning the year 2021. Along with the winners of 2021, 2020 winners was also honoured with the awards in which Olympic bronze-medallist and India's most successful female boxer Mary Kom was awarded Padma Vibhushan.
