Watch: Armand Duplantis breaks pole vault world record for 11th time, says 'What can I say, I came here to do it'

He recorded 6.27 metres, breaking his previous record of 6.26 metres created in August 2024 in Silesia, Poland.

Duplantis was in a league of his own. The second-placed Emmanouil Karalis set a national record but was nowhere near Duplantis. The Greek athlete recorded an attempt of 6.02 metres. Not just Duplantis, other athletes combined to set another record. This is the first time, six male athletes have gone past 6.91 metres at a single event.

"I just felt really good. What can I say, I came here to do it. I put everything in place to do it. The run-up worked really well. I just did it,” Duplantis told the reporters on February 28.

 

 

Duplantis is not just a gifted athlete. On February 28, he released his first song "Bop". Nicknamed "Mondo", his song was played in the arena as well.

"When I made this song a couple of months ago, I thought this would be a perfect song to jump to here. That's why I rushed it out," he added.

Duplantis breaking records since 2020

The first time, Duplantis broke the record was in 2020 in Poland. He has been pushing the limits ever since and other athletes are in awe of him as they know they are fighting for the second spot only. In Paris Olympics 2024, he won the gold medal with a 6.25 metre jump. He broke the world record there as well.
