Carlos Alcaraz injury update: Spaniard still feels pain after 24 hours of the injury; didn’t practice

According to a report in MARCA, Alcaraz is still experiencing pain in his left ankle, even 24 hours after he fell on the court during his match against Baez in Tokyo yesterday. The six-time Grand Slam champion did not participate in the practice session today, according to the same source.

Alcaraz will decide tomorrow if he is going to play the next match or not. The game is scheduled against Zizou Bergs. The Spanish sensation overcame an injury scare yesterday when he collapsed on the court. The tennis star took a 2-0 lead against the Argentine at the ATP 500 event, however, as he moved forward to chase a drop shot from deep behind the baseline, Alcaraz felt some discomfort and collapsed on the ground.

Alcaraz raised injury concerns when he covered his face with his hands, seemingly in pain, as he was required to strap, apparently suffering a left Achilles injury. The player then held his left ankle as he stayed on the court before physio treated him in the middle of the game.

However, the incident did not stop him from winning the debut match and then the sensational player claimed it with a score of 6-4, 6-2. It is to be seen if Alcaraz decides to go ahead and play the next match or wait until he fully recovers from the pain in his left ankle.

The 2025 US Open champion last played at the tournament was the Laver Cup, where he appeared in four matches, including singles and doubles. Unfortunately, for Alcaraz, Team Europe lost to Team World all thanks to Taylor Fritz, who powered his side to secure their third title in four years.
