Emma Raducanu retired from the first round of her Wuhan Open match against America’s Ann Li following an illness. The sensational player appeared to have suffered from the temperature in China and struggled. This resulted in the American going through to the next round of the tournament following a walkover.

Apparently, the British No. 1 player couldn't handle the extreme heat in China as she struggled with illness amid 32-degree temperatures. The 2021 US Open champion fell victim to the brutal heat after which, she was visited by the WTA physio and tournament doctor on court. As per reports, the 22-year-old had her blood pressure and temperature checked before she finally gave up on the match after consulting.

Meanwhile, Raducanu is not the first player falling victim to the temperature of the country. The unbearable heat has been targeting several players recently. One of the players,  Dayana Yastremska, was also forced to withdraw just hours into the start of the competition on Monday, following the same conditions of the country. 

In fact, Wuhan had to suspend play on the outdoor courts due to the extreme heat on day one and the country’s humid conditions, where 34 degrees 'feels like' 37 degrees. Even Novak Djokovic raised his concerns openly and the 24-time Grand Slam champion was captured vomiting at the sides of the court.
