Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the upcoming Miami Open 2026 tennis tournament. The Serbian is coming off a loss against Jack Draper at the Indian Wells Masters. The 2025 BNP Paribas winner rallied from a set down to beat the Serb on Wednesday.
The 24-time Grand Champion also took part in the doubles alongside partner Stefanos Tsitsipas in the California desert before exiting in the second round. While fans were excited to see the Serb superstar in Miami, the tennis legend decided not to appear at this year’s edition. Here is why Djokovic is not playing in the Miami Open 2026.
Novak Djokovic withdraws from Miami Open 2026 due to shoulder injury
Djokovic’s reason behind not playing at this year’s Miami Open tournament is his shoulder injury, according to tournament organisers. The six-time winner of the event is the most successful men’s player in their history.
Djokovic had reached the final in Miami last year but lost to Czech opponent Jakub Mensik. Following his withdrawal, he will now lose a chance at a record-breaking seventh crown. Meanwhile, the tournament is all set to begin on Wednesday, with the qualifiers beginning on Monday.
