Aryna Sabalenka has reached her fourth Australian Open final in a row after beating Elina Svitolina with a score of 6-2, 6-3. The World No. 1 star won back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024 before losing to Madison Keys in the final of the 2025 competition.
On the other hand, it was Svitolina’s maiden semifinal before her fairy tale journey was ended by the hands of the Belarusian. Sabalenka had reached the last four of the tournament by defeating Iva Jokic in the quarterfinals of the major in Melbourne Park.
Sabalenka storms into fourth straight Australian Open final
The top-seeded WTA player will be facing either Elena Rybakina or Jessica Pegula to fight for the 2026 Australian Open title. The four-time major champion has won two titles in Australia, while the other two came in the US Open, in 204 and 2025.
Sabalenka, who also has doubles titles in Australia and the USA, both with Belgian Elise Mertens, has yet to win the French Open or Wimbledon. However, she did reach the semifinals thrice in 2021, 2023, and 2025 on grass and was a Roland Garros finalist in 2025.
On the other hand, Pegula beat Amanda Anisimova in the last eight, while Rybakina is coming off a victory against World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, causing a huge upset in the tournament. Swiatek is yet to win a major in Australia, having won six Grand Slams.
