A 36-year-old star has said that he didn't care about John Cena's final fight in WWE. The GOAt retired at Saturday Night's Main Event after losing to Gunther in his farewell fight.
In the buildup to the fight, many stars shared stories about John Cena and his influence on the industry. The night proved to be an emotional one for the fans as they bid goodbye to the 17-time World Champion. However, one WWE name was not focused on what was happening on December 13.
NXT North American champion Ethan Page recently attended a fan Q&A session at an event alongside WWE Evolve Women's Champion Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair.
The session was recorded by Rock n Co Wrestling and uploaded on YouTube. During the session, one of the fans asks the stars about their opinion on Cena's last match. While Grey and Sinclair were sad to see the Cenation Leader retire, Page had a different point of view.
"I didn’t really care. I will say this. I think I was the most John Cena yesterday during John Cena’s day because I was working while everyone was just out there celebrating. Yeah, I had a job to do, so I defended my championship. That’s kind of what I was focused on," he said.
This is clearly the All Ego staying true to his on-screen heel character and doing his best to get more heat on himself from the fans.
Interestingly, Page defended his North American title against Myles Borne at an NXT Live Show on the same day retired.
WWE Hall of Famer paid tribute to John Cena following his retirement
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash was one of the people who paid tribute to John Cena after his retirement.
Nash shared a photo on Threads of him wrestling Cena at a WWE live event in 2011. In the picture, Big Daddy Cool can be seen striking the Never Seen 17 with a knife.
He appreciated Cena for his legendary career and called him a fantastic human being. Nash thanked him before joking he tore his quad while wrestling him.
