Chris Jericho has finally addressed the rumors of his WWE return to WWE after seven years. The former World Champion left WWE and joined AEW in 2028. He first appeared in WWE in the year of 1999. Jericho spent 15 years with WWE. He took a break from the company in 2005 before returning in 2007. His second stint went for 11 years.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Jericho said:
"The best thing that can happen to wrestling is AEW and the fact that there are two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys, makes it better for the fans, and everybody in between. I’m not going anywhere for a long while. I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it. We just have to see what happens. The best thing that can happen is to have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting."
Jericho is one of the biggest names in AEW and was the first AEW World Champion. He has been away from the AEW TV since April. Jericho's contract will come to an end in December. He could make his return to WWE at the 2026 Royal Rumble if he signs a deal with the company.
Big AEW stars who came back to WWE
Cody Rhodes was the first name to make his return to WWE. The American Nightmare was AEW's EVP, but he left the promotion three years after its launch. At present, he is the Undisputed WWE Champion.
CM Punk is another star who returned to WWE. Punk, who made his AEW debut in 2021, left the promotion in 2023 on a controversial note. He made his WWE return at the 2023 Survivor Series and is one of the top superstars in WWE.
