Ronda Rousey, one of the most decorated female athletes in combat sports history, has once again spoken out against WWE, pulling no punches in her assessment of the company. The former UFC Bantamweight Champion and three-time WWE Women’s Champion revealed that her time in the Stamford-based promotion left her with “needless anxiety” and resentment, particularly after WWE released several of her closest friends.
Rousey calls WWE a “chaotic s*** show”
Speaking on Uncrowned, Rousey didn’t mince words when describing her WWE experience. Despite being one of the company’s top attractions during her run, she explained that the behind-the-scenes environment was far from enjoyable.
“It was a lot of needless anxiety and things like that. And the whole company was just a chaotic s*** show on the inside. And then they ended up dropping all my friends,” Ronda Rousey said.
Her remarks highlight an ongoing frustration with the company’s inner workings, particularly during the period when Vince McMahon was still heavily involved in creative decisions.
Loyalty to the four horsewomen
Rousey had long expressed interest in a WWE storyline featuring the “Four Horsewomen” of MMA — herself, Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke. However, that vision never came to fruition. With WWE parting ways with her friends, the prospect of such a run was cut short.
“So I really have no reason to go back. I wanted to do a run with the Four Horsewomen and I never got to do that. And now I feel like I’ve already accomplished everything that I wanted to in WWE and all that’s really left for me is to go there and have fun with my friends, and none of my friends are there anymore,” she explained.
A legacy already cemented
Despite her frustrations, Ronda Rousey’s legacy in WWE is undeniable. From headlining WrestleMania alongside Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair to capturing multiple championships, she carved out a significant chapter in wrestling history. Still, her latest comments make it clear that a return to WWE is highly unlikely.
For now, Rousey seems content leaving her WWE career in the past, focusing instead on other ventures while remaining outspoken about the industry she once dominated.
