John Cena opens up on his retirement tour

John Cena is the biggest name to enter the ring. The 17-time World Champion delivered a heel turn to his fans which was being asked from him from so many years. However, in his final months as a performer, Cena has now tuned babyface once again.

In an interview with People Magazine, Cena addressed his retirement tour. Cena revealed that he analysed WWE's current program before initiating his retirement tour, appreciating the current roster for their amazing athleticism.

"I started to assess physically where I was and assess the current program. And the current program in the WWE is spectacular, like surgically perfect. The athleticism is far beyond anything I've ever been capable of. The talent pool is extremely deep," he said.

The 17-time World Champion reflected on his early days in the wrestling business, stating that he made a promise to himself to leave professional wrestling with the same level of excitement as he had when he first entered the business.

"And I remember being a young 20-something in Kentucky, wrestling in front of 20 people every night, crossing my fingers and hoping to get a call to come up to WWE television, and thinking that call would never come. And I kinda made a promise when I got on television and when I started gaining some notoriety that I should be as graceful exiting the business, or try to be as I was excited to enter," he added. When will the Cena vs Lesnar clash take place?

Maybe this was an indication that WWE is trying to reignite Cena and Lesnar's epic rivalry. The two legends are set for a high-profile match, and it will likely take place at WWE's upcoming premier live event, Clash in Paris, on August 31.

Following Backlash 2024, Clash in Paris will be WWE's first PLE in France. The company is heavily focused in promoting the event since it will be an international show. The show is going to be a blockbuster draw, as it involves two iconic names.
