Brandon Aubrey becomes the first NFL player with five career field goals of 60+ yards.

Fans and analysts praise his clutch performances and call for a record-breaking contract.

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey etched his name into NFL history during the team’s dominant 44-22 Week 7 win over the Washington Commanders, becoming the first player in league history to record five career field goals of 60 yards or more. His record-breaking 61-yard field goal not only secured his place in the record books but also highlighted his emerging status as one of the most remarkable kickers in NFL history.

Aubrey’s record-breaking kick

The historic field goal came at a crucial moment, capping off a performance that emphasized Aubrey’s extraordinary range and accuracy. Yahoo Sports NFL reporter Jori Epstein tweeted, “With this 61-yard field goal, Brandon Aubrey has now made the most field goals from 60+ of anyone in NFL history, at five.”

The Cowboys’ official communications reinforced the milestone: “Brandon Aubrey‘s 61-yard field goal was his fifth career make from 60-plus yards. He is the only kicker in NFL history with five field goals from 60-plus yards.”

Even NFL legend Tom Brady, during the Fox Sports broadcast, drew a striking comparison, stating, “We call (Aubrey) Stephen Curry, because his range is pretty much from anywhere.”

From soccer star to NFL sensation

Brandon Aubrey’s journey to NFL stardom is anything but conventional. Originally an All-American soccer player at Notre Dame, he was drafted No. 21 overall by Toronto FC in the 2021 MLS Draft. Encouraged by his wife, Aubrey switched to football in 2019, dedicating three years to training before joining the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

His successful transition to the NFL came when he signed with the Cowboys in 2023, quickly making a name for himself with his clutch performances and exceptional kicking range.

With his combination of distance, accuracy, and composure under pressure, Aubrey could soon challenge records that have stood for years, including Justin Tucker’s 66-yard field goal, the current NFL benchmark. As the Cowboys continue their 2025 campaign, Aubrey’s performances will be pivotal in keeping Dallas at the top of the NFC and in conversations for a deep postseason run.
