NFL insider Mike Florio hints the Philadelphia Eagles could be exploring trade offers for wide receiver A.J. Brown despite public denials.

A.J. Brown opens up about his frustration over limited involvement in the Eagles’ offense, fueling trade speculation.

NFL insider Mike Florio has reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking for offers for receiver A.J. Brown ahead of the trade deadline. The Eagles left Brown off their roster last Sunday, giving DeVonta Smith the reins over the offense's air game.

Latest update on A.J Brown's trade buzz

Florio is reading meaning into Brown's benching as the NFL trade deadline approaches. In an analysis on Wednesday, the experienced journalist said:

“There was a report over the weekend that the Eagles are not expected to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown. That was the headline. When you look a little deeper, it sure looks like the Eagles are willing, if not eager, to get phone calls about A.J. Brown. That was going in Sunday’s game. A game in which Saquon Barkley erupted for his best game of the season, and A.J. Brown did not play. I’ve heard of several teams that are interested (in Brown). This, to me, feels like an effort by the Eagles to shop Brown without shopping Brown.”

A.J. Brown's NFL stats

Brown was named as the 51st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played with Titans in the league for the first three years before joining the Eagles in 2022. The Super Bowl champion has played 54 games with the Eagles, registering 290 receptions for 4,426 yards and 28 touchdowns.

AJ Brown gets honest about frustration with the Eagles

Brown was seen unhappy with his output with Philadelphia for a while. Much of the disappointment was shared through cryptic social media posts and innuendos. However, the wideout said the quiet part out loud in an interview with The Athletic. He said:

“I know everybody’s counting on me—that’s my thrill. And then I come through. That makes me proud of myself. And I’m doing it over and over again. And then I got another opportunity a couple of plays later. Third down. Everybody knows the ball’s coming to me. I love that feeling. Like, it’s a rush.”

He concluded:

“And that’s where the excitement comes from. And that’s why it’s frustrating at times. And maybe people really misunderstand me as a player… You may see a little frustration. It’s because I really want to help this team win. But if I’m not getting the ball, obviously, it’s not as fun.”

With the trade deadline less than a week away, the Eagles may have decided whether to get draft capital with Brown.
