The NFL is aiming for a spectacular comeback with their Super Bowl halftime show after a somewhat controversial performance this year. Their sights are set on a global music icon: Taylor Swift.
While Swift recently supported her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, the league hopes to bring her even closer to the action next year. They are reportedly very keen to have her headline the halftime show at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
A Drive for a Divisive-Free Performance
The NFL is aware of the mixed reactions to Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance at Super Bowl LIX. The controversy surrounding his Drake diss track, "Not Like Us," overshadowed the performance for some. This has prompted Commissioner Roger Goodell and other NFL executives to prioritize a less divisive act for 2026.
"Taylor is the goal we want her to be doing the SB halftime show it has been something we should have done before," a source within the NFL told The U.S. Sun. "It would be historical and we would make the best numbers ever and get someone that everyone loves and that doesn’t create any controversy."
While some fans reportedly requested Carrie Underwood, the insider suggested that's unlikely. "That person is Taylor Swift. We will do everything to make it happen next year," they stated.
Swift: The Ideal Candidate?
The NFL's goal is to make history and shatter viewership records. While Super Bowl LIX was the most-watched Super Bowl ever, featuring Swift could push Super Bowl LX to even greater heights. The league recognizes Swift's ability to connect with a vast and diverse audience.
The U.S. Sun has previously reported on the surge in merchandise sales, particularly among female fans, following Swift's appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games. Her widespread appeal is a significant advantage for the NFL.
"There is only one name in the target, for the majority of people in the offices: Taylor Swift," another source within the NFL told The U.S. Sun. "It’s in everyone’s mouth, in everyone’s priority and we know that we will make history if she accepts to do the 2026 Halftime show."
"She is the biggest superstar in the world right now, and the impact of this show would be unique, much bigger than any other done until now at Super Bowl," the source continued. "I mean, we could break the biggest number of audiences ever for the event, and have people pushing to buy tickets for big amounts and some even just coming for the show, and Swifties, and not only, from around the world would be in front of their TV watching this historical event."
"We all want that, and we are gonna do everything to have her get to do the next year’s halftime show, as we want to not have to deal with all the tensions and controversy we had to deal with this year in New Orleans."
Sources indicate the NFL was not entirely satisfied with Lamar's performance and wants Jay-Z's Roc Nation, which helps organize the Super Bowl entertainment, to allow for broader input in the decision-making process. They strongly believe Swift is the ideal artist to unite fans.
"It’s important to make next year the best one ever, and put this year’s show behind us and not have to have to deal with what he had to deal with this year in Nola," the source concluded.
