Story Highlights:

The Pittsburgh Steelers did manage to make the postseason this year as Wilson started 11 games while Fields managed to start in six.

Wilson played solid for the Steelers in the only season with the black and gold.

The Raiders have hired Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll as their coach in the offseason. Carroll and Wilson have enjoyed their share of luck as both of them won the Super Bowl 48.

The Pittsburgh Steelers owner Arthur Joseph Rooney II has broken his silence on quarterback Russell Wilson after their early playoff exit. The Steelers had bought in Wilson and Justin Fields for the 2024 season but now it looks like they both might end up becoming free agents if the franchise doesn't re-sign them.

What did Arthur Joseph Rooney II say about Russell Wilson?

The Pittsburgh Steelers did manage to make the postseason this year as Wilson started 11 games while Fields managed to start in six. As the Steelers prepare for the 2025 National Football League (NFL) season, it looks like they will explore other quarterback options in the offseason.

On Monday, January 27, Arthur Joseph Rooney II spoke on the situation and said that they would look to explore other options in the draft.

Obviously we'll be looking in the draft as well. We've got a whole quarterback room to fill and so there's jobs open in there and so I wouldn't be surprised if we look in the draft as well either this year or next, Rooney II said.

It's interesting to note that Rooney II also spoke about the fact they have a whole quarterback room to fill before the start of the 2025 season, which suggests that they will look to replace both Wilson and Fields.

There might be a possibility that either one of them stays with the team as Rooney II mentioned a preference to sign one of the two. The Steelers could also use their first-round pick (No.21) or even try to trade up higher for a better shot at a first-round talent quarterback.

Russell Wilson could end up at Las Vegas Raiders

There is a high chance that Russell Wilson can end up at the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wilson played solid for the Steelers in the only season with the black and gold. He managed 63.7 per cent of his passes last season for 2,482 yards and had 16 touchdowns and five interceptions to his name.

The Steelers are not committed to him for the next season which means he could end up in a third different team in his last three seasons.

The Las Vegas Raiders could use the help of Wilson as they need a quarterback themselves.

The Raiders have hired Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll as their coach in the offseason. Carroll and Wilson have enjoyed their share of luck as both of them won the Super Bowl 48.
