Jason and Travis Kelce both have good amount of experience in reaching the playoffs. However lately, both of them have gotten a taste of missing the dance in January. Travis missed the playoffs this season, and Jason's Philadelphia Eagles missed the playoffs in 2020.
Travis and Jason Kelce opened up on the feeling of missing the playoff spots
Travis and Jason talked about the feeling of missing the playoffs on Wednesday's episode of "New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce." Travis admitted to feeling bad about the circumstances.
"Yeah, there's nothing worse than not making the playoffs," Jason said. "It is very frustrating, especially when you guys have done it (made deep playoff runs) so much, like, it's absolutely crazy. And you guys obviously should be very proud of that, but that actually probably hurts more, I would assume."
"It's kind of an embarrassing feeling," Travis admitted. "But you keep it moving, man, you keep it moving. And I'm still a fan of the game, and I still love the game, so I'll be tuned in throughout the playoffs, seeing how this thing shakes out over the next couple of weeks."
Something positive for the Kansas City Chiefs
Of course, in the bigger picture of how the team missed the playoffs, there are worse methods to do it. Teams like the Cleveland Browns or the Arizona Cardinals were never in the race of reaching the playoffs, and Kansas City Chiefs managed to keep the hope alive until the final few weeks.
Travis Kelce addresses retirement speculation after Chiefs' season ends
Travis Kelce finds himself in a similar situation. In February 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was the subject of rumors, speculations and questions regarding what took place after the season. With the season finishing a month early for the franchise, those questions are back again at the top once again.
Kelce was questioned regarding his intentions for when and how he could decide his future in a clip shared on X on Sunday by Kansas City Star Columnist Sam McDowell.
"Either it hits me quick or I gotta take some time," Kelce said. "Last year was a little bit easier. I knew right away I wanted to kind of give this one a shot so I don't know. We'll see."
Kelce's statement discloses that the tight end was relatively closer to leaning toward retirement this season than last year. Of course, reaching the Super Bowl versus packing it up after a losing year are two very two different situations. It will be up to Kelce to decide where wants to play for one more season.
