Story Highlights:

Taylor Swift matches a historic UK chart feat previously achieved by a legendary band.

Her latest success further cements her status as a global chart powerhouse.

Taylor Swift has once again etched her name into music history, this time by joining one of the most exclusive clubs in the United Kingdom.

Official figures have confirmed that Swift has matched a chart feat last achieved by The Beatles, reinforcing her standing as one of the most dominant global artists of the modern era.

According to the Official Charts Company, Swift’s latest studio album The Life of a Showgirl finished as the biggest-selling album of 2025 in the UK.

The record closed the year with an impressive 642,000 units sold nationwide, despite being released as late as October.

That late release window makes the achievement even more remarkable and highlights the sustained demand for Swift’s music.

Back-to-back UK Album of the Year titles

The 2025 success follows Taylor Swift’s triumph in 2024, when The Tortured Poets Department ended the year as the UK’s top-selling album.

With consecutive year-end chart-toppers from two different studio albums, the 36-year-old becomes the first artist since The Beatles to accomplish this rare feat in the UK.

This milestone places Swift in elite historical company, as few artists have managed to maintain such commercial momentum across multiple album cycles, especially in an era dominated by streaming and shortened attention spans.

Record-breaking debut and chart longevity

The Life of a Showgirl made an immediate impact upon release. The album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart with 423,000 units sold in its opening week.

That figure marked the biggest first-week sales of Taylor Swift’s career in the UK and the strongest album debut of the decade so far.

The album went on to spend four weeks at No. 1 and remained a consistent presence near the top of the charts throughout the year, further cementing its status as a commercial juggernaut.

Dominance extends to the singles chart

Swift’s influence in the UK extended beyond albums. She became the first female artist to occupy the entire Top 3 of the UK Singles Chart simultaneously. “The Fate of Ophelia” claimed the No. 1 position, followed by “Opalite” at No. 2 and “Elizabeth Taylor” at No. 3.

That accomplishment placed Taylor Swift alongside Sabrina Carpenter as the only female artists to hold the UK’s No. 1 album while simultaneously controlling the Top 3 singles positions.

With historic benchmarks falling year after year, Swift’s run of dominance shows little sign of slowing down.
