The Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker recently shared the inspiration behind his jersey number No. 11, which is also a tribute given to the Liverpool FC star Mohamed Salah. The 24-year-old Dicker also goes by the name 'Dicker the kicker'.

During a visit to the Liverpool's training facility, Dicker spoke to the media regarding his football passion and professional choices.

I chose No.11 for the Charger because of Mo Salah, Dicker told Liverpoolfc.com

The love for Liverpool football club began in Shanghai, China, where Dicker grew up watching Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. He also mentioned that his friend Tom had influenced his team choice.

His dad and brother were United fans, and his mum and him were Liverpool fans, so I had to jump on with them.

Cameron Dicker football passion despite busy NFL schedule

Following his favorite club from California do comes with a lot of challenges as there's an eight hour time difference and on top of it, the NFL commitments as well. 

It's just got to be in my hotel, Dicker said about watching matches. Probably one of those Sunday mornings in the hotel where I wake up and we have a late game in the afternoon. So I'm just sitting there watching alone, yelling.

The NFL season overlaps with the ongoing Premier League season.

The hard thing during the season is watching games, just because we're playing as well. We're either travelling or in a hotel right before our game, so that's tough, he added.

Cameron Dicker recently was on a 12-day European tour and he made the most of it. He attended seven football matches, which included Liverpool's famous 1-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League. He also visited Anfield as Liverpool thrashed Southampton 3-1. He is watching a game at Anfield for the second time as his first time was in February 2023 when Liverpool was taking on Real Madrid. 

He even visited the Kirkby academy where he conducted a kicking session ahead of the Chargers' spring workout. He shared his journey with the academy players which included him going undrafted and facing multiple team releases in his career. 

This is surreal, Cameron Dicker said of the experience. We're all laughing saying that this is the craziest moment ever. We can't believe we're actually here.

Finally, his day came to an end with a behind-the-scenes tour of the AXA Training Centre.
