Story Highlights:

Patrick Mahomes has played for eight years in the NFL.

Mahomes and Chiefs' lost the Super Bowl LIX to Philadelphia Eagles.

Patrick Mahomes has played with talented wide receivers during his eight year stint in NFL, which includes the likes of Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Rashee Rice and Sammy Watkins. The former No.10 pick has excelled with every wideout he has ever played with, but Mahomes requires a high level of commitment and an understanding of what he and the coaching staff wants to achieve.

Xavier Worthy on Patrick Mahomes

Xavier Worthy, who went from being a rookie year behind Rice, Marquis Brown, Skyy Moore and others last year, became Chiefs' best wide receiver during the Super Bowl LIX. He registered eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Not just this, he even outplayed Travis Kelce (four receptions and 38 yards) to give the Chiefs little hope against a dominant Philadelphia Eagles.

While talking with Kay Adams during his Up & Adams show on Wednesday, Xavier Worthy spoke of the things he has learned about Mahomes' approach and more so, when it comes to his wide receivers.

He really just wants you to get up and but it's really about understanding the route and what freedom you have in a route, Worthy said. Sometimes you have a route that you don't have no freedom, and you have to just run it as is, or you have a little bit of freedom, but you have to stay on a little bit of time. And so once I figured that out, it was kind of easy.

Xavier Worthy played a total of 17 games in 2024. It was a season that saw many wide receivers go out due to injuries. Worthy stepped up his game and showed the franchise that he could help them for a Super Bowl appearance, recording 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns.

While the Kansas City Chiefs' were taken down in Super Bowl, Worthy made sure he makes a huge impression and it is expected that he would step up his game in the upcoming season.

Xavier Worthy on Patrick Mahomes' explosive offense

During the same conversation with Kay Adams, Xavier Worthy spoke about potentially becoming a deep threat in Patrick Mahomes' offense. The quarterback has missed a wideout of those characteristics since Tyreek Hill made his way to Miami Dolphins. Andy Reid has already told him to prepare for a new role in the team.

Coach Reid told us during the OTAs and minicamp, when you get back get your hamstrings ready, Worthy said.

We kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep in practice, so we kind of got our bodies and got our minds ready for what we were doing in practice.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing their first game on 10th August against the Arizona Cardinals at the State Farm Stadium.
