Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift has been a major topic in the media, particularly after Swift attended her first Chiefs game in September last year. However, Kayla Nicole, Kelce's ex-girlfriend, has faced significant backlash online since the couple went public. On the podcast "Unapologetically Angel," hosted by WNBA star Angel Reese, Nicole spoke about the impact of this negativity.
Nicole stated, “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos doesn’t impact me, because it does, even to this day." She highlighted how commenters often attack her character, stating, “You can go to my most recent post and there will be people debating each other why I’m worthless."
She noted that this animosity seems to stem from Kelce's newfound fame, saying, “I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people." Nicole and Kelce were in a relationship from 2017 to 2022.
Additionally, Nicole addressed rumors about their relationship, specifically claims that Kelce was cheap on dates. She dismissed these as unfounded, saying, "That was never an issue in our relationship, but it was definitely a rumor on the internet." She called the spread of such rumors “ridiculous” and expressed confusion over why they gained traction.
Kayla Nicole addressed rumors about her relationship with Travis Kelce, stating, "Do I look like anybody that would split anything?" She called the idea "ridiculous," adding, "He addressed that too, though. I don’t even know why that even became a thing. That was never an issue in our relationship but it was definitely a rumor on the internet."
Travis Kelce responded to these rumors, saying, "You've got to be crazy if you'd think I would never help or gave her a couple thousand to grab some food or she gave me some money to go get some food. We were in a relationship for five years. A hundred dollars here, a hundred dollars there wasn't even thought about."
Kayla, who was once close friends with Brittany Mahomes, unfollowed her after Kelce began dating Taylor Swift. She noted, “To everyone, it’s like, ‘Oh, you broke up a year ago,’ and that meant it’s like a light switch, you turn it on and off and everything goes dead and black and you don’t ever speak to anyone ever again. That’s not reality. I have ongoing relationships with all parties involved.”
She reflected on her experience, saying, "It is really easy to get caught up in their dream, their vision for their life. Something that I had to learn early on was that the relationship could be over tomorrow and what do you have? At the time it was a long-distance relationship; I was going back and forth."
Kayla shared how the timing of their breakup affected her life: "I was in-between apartments and thought 'it's cool, we're going to get married and I'm going to move into the house, I don't really need an apartment. We broke up, my lease was up, my lease on my car was up all at the same time."
She added, "Thankfully we ended up getting back together but from that point moving forward I was like I don't care who I date, I'm going to always have my own place, my own car. Support their career, but prioritize my own goals." Nicole also discussed the pressures of dating a high-profile individual: "I think the combination of everything is the perfect storm to make you want to disappear from the world entirely."
