Super Bowl LIX marked a highly anticipated rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, a repeat of their championship clash from two years prior. For Jason Kelce, it was an emotional rollercoaster as he found himself torn between supporting his longtime team and his younger brother, Travis Kelce.
Kelce’s Conflicted Feelings Watching the Game
Kelce took to X on Tuesday to share his thoughts on the experience, admitting that it was a difficult game for him to watch.
"That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest," Kelce wrote. "I knew it was going to be mixed emotions before, during, and after, and I now know what my parents had to deal with two years ago."
Balancing his love for his brother with his deep ties to the Eagles organization made for a bittersweet viewing experience.
"On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success. And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about, many of whom I owe my own success to throughout my career," he added.
Supporting His Former Team After the Game
Despite his mixed emotions during the game, Kelce is not shying away from celebrating his former team now that the dust has settled. He famously stole the spotlight during the Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl parade after they defeated the New England Patriots, and he’s set to take part in another celebration this week.
Jason Kelce Confirms His Attendance at Eagles' Victory Parade
Kelce confirmed on X that he will be in attendance when Philadelphia celebrates its latest triumph. The championship parade is scheduled for Friday, February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day in the City of Brotherly Love.
The parade is expected to run from approximately 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET, as fans line the streets to honor the Eagles' remarkable season.
"Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles, my former teammates, and friends on being SB LIX Champions!! There were a lot of emotions last night, and now that I’ve collected my thoughts, I’ll attempt to share them in the longest tweet ever," he wrote on X
